Bush's war longer than WWII! Pass it on...
Edited on Tue May-10-05 12:12 AM by sfwriter
Bush is chest thumping in Europe today over the end of World War II.

Let everyone you know that George Bush's "War on Terror" will be longer than World War II on May 21, Armed Services Day. That's right, a week from this Saturday, Bush's war outlasts (our involvement) World War II! (I've pasted the math in below.)

Today we are 1336 days into Bush's war. In the amount of time it took a Democrat to unite a nation and defeat two of the most powerful armies on Earth, Bush has managed to make the current situation worse. The State Department recently said the number of terrorist attacks had quadrupled from last year.

Just imagine the analogies to World War II if Bush ran the war. We'd probably be allies with Italy and Vichy France.

Here's the math with help from http://www.timeanddate.com/date/duration.html which calculate the time between two dates.

From 9/11 2001 to May 21 2005:

From: Tuesday, September 11, 2001 00:00:00
to: Saturday, May 21, 2005 00:00:00

It is 1348 days, 0 hours, 0 minutes and 0 seconds between those dates

Or 116467200 seconds or 1941120 minutes or 32352 hours

From 12/7 1941 to VJ Day, August 15 1945

From: Sunday, December 7, 1941 00:00:00
to: Wednesday, August 15, 1945 00:00:00

It is 1347 days, 0 hours, 0 minutes and 0 seconds between those dates

Or 116380800 seconds or 1939680 minutes or 32328 hours

Note: The calculation is performed using USA calendar system, and UTC-time, so no local time, leap seconds or daylight saving time is taken into consideration (may be one hour off real difference).

EDIT: Added Qualifier (Our Involvement in) to World War II

2. I suggest you say
longer than US involvement in WWII...

The war itself had been on for some time before the US joined it.

At least FDR had the good sense to prepare for the conflict instead of ignoring the intelligence he recieved.

Added a qualifier to the original post.

4. This is not a real war because it hasn't been declared by congress
This is like the war on drunk driving in that it will never end or even begin.

9. TOTALLY Different by his own words..
bush glorifies his war which in a sense devalues the efforts of other Warriors..
bush is a war monger and chikenhawk..

Col. David Hackworth died this wk..Such a HERO.

He said in CNN that the combat Veterans that he spoke to and he knows thousands ..are/were against the Iraq Invasion..
I would say the same for most combat veterans that I speak with..this war is phony balloney for the war profiteers and worse..
