MA-Gov: Romney to opt out of reelection race?
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2005/5/9/111957/1385

Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney in a recent secret Washington meeting with national political operatives signaled he probably will forgo seeking re-election in 2006 in order to pursue the 2008 Republican presidential nomination.

Romney did not flatly reveal his future intentions, according to sources who were present. But he did say a presidential race would be difficult if he were concentrating on a 2006 campaign for governor and were still in that office in 2007-08.

Personally I think the guy is opting out because I can't see him winning re-election in Massachusetts. And nothing can ruin your chases of being the Republican nomiation for pres than to be a losing governor

1. Exactly, he knows he can't win re-election
the polls have shown him consistently behind the two leading Democratic candidates. And I doubt he would have a rats chance of being the GOP nominee either. He probably is hoping to be the VP nominee to someone like McCain.

3. I can see Romney being the RW Theocrats candidate
Giuliani is pro-choice, so he's out.

McCain, well the Theocrats destroyed his '00 bid with slurs and racism, so he's out.

Romney is slicker than Bush with image plays. He's a Mormon but a good economic royalist. Romney could be the "compromise" candidate between the Theocrats and corporate crooks. Romney could also be Frisk's VP choice too, assuming that Frisk is the Theocrats #1 candidate.

4. Yeah, but don't forget Hagal can be the BBV choice
since he was a former CEO for E&S which makes plenty of voting machines
