Tom Harkin to endorse Dean????
Someone who is doing campaign work for me (a targeter) is also a campaign source in IA.

They tell me that Sen. Harkin is going to endorse Dean before the Iowa primary to help Dean win big in IA. This announcement might come on the 26th or in the first week of January.

Keep an eye open, Dean supporters!

1. I thought he already had.
I'm sure I heard this before. Am I wrong?

2. Haven't seen this
It would be one of the best possible endorsements, though. Here's hoping it's true!

3. It was rumored before Gore's endorsement
but afterward I guessed the rumor was a confused one. There's been nothing definite yet.

7. He is currently neutral--and he is my senator
He has a populist fire in him like Dean so it seems logical.

11. Hi Jeff
Just wondering,

When Dean wins 10 states in November, and Bush has been given carte blanche to wreck the nation, can we still talk Buckeye football?

:)

13. Difficult question....
...because he'll win more than 10 states.

But if the disaster you predict does occur, I'm not sure if we can talk. It depends on whether or not my wife's property in Canada has an internet connection installed.

8. We've heard those rumors here in IL, as well.
Some state-level people let it slip when Paul Simon endorsed Dean that 'a senator in a VERY important early caucus state (!)' was going to endorse Dean, too. You don't have to be James Bond to figure out who they were talking about, really. :)

14. This past Friday..Durbin seemed to be leaning a bit...
Howard Dean was the ONLY candidate he mentioned in two different appearances in Bloomington...and the event I was at he was mentioned with praise for his campaign. I think Paul Simon's endorsement had a strong effect on Durbin.

Harkin and Durbin both would be outstanding!

15. That would sew it up for Dean, as a practical matter.
Paul's endorsement, plus Dick's, plus Gov. B's rumored one would pretty well make IL a 'no-contest', and we have a whole BUNCH of delegates, as you know. :)

16. The most delegates in the Midwest...and Gep's "neighbor"
Yep, I think Illinois is basically sewn up for Dean already...and Wisconsin looks that way, too.

12. Based on something I heard from an Iowa staffer...
I think this is the case. I know Harkin has said he will remain neutral until later in January, but don't be surprised if this happens, say around Dec. 26. :)
