5. Good idea for a weekly DU column
I love Conservative Idiots, but there's no reason we can't have some positive news, too. Sort of like a human interest story, except one that matters and is socially relevant.

12. Senator Conyers, for his push to investigate the memo, the 40 NON-Dems
who walked out in solidarity from their exiled brethren in E. Waynesville, Senator Reid for calling Bush a "loser," then apologizing to Karl Rove before Rove could run with the ball.

We need to boost our cause every time it is possible. One hero a week just won't do it!

a sort of Top 10 Good Guys of the Week.

Excuse me pushing my own thread, but it sunk like a rock yesterday.

22. You're using it to describe a hero. It functions as an adjective.
I just hate the way it sounds when used to modify things.

Tom DeLay intentionally uses the word Democrat as an adjective in order to imply that we are somehow not democratic.

I think it's important not to let their language slip into our own speech.

23. Yeeeesh!
I'm not in a damn grammar class here and I'm not using the word 'Democrat' to modify the word 'hero'... or as DeLayspeak :puke: I'm using it as a noun.... as in a 'Democrat' who is a 'hero' of the week.

Now what will you pick on me for?

Maybe you can add someone to the list (and leave my grammar alone). If I ever post something like this again, I'll take your comments into consideration, and change it to "Democratic Party Hero of the Week"... or "Democratic Underground Hero of the Week"... or maybe "My Hero of the Week"... or "Hey, I like ____ ", or ... oh, heck... why bother... I'm just gonna get off this computer & go read Bob Herbert's new book.

It's a pet peeve of mine.

Like I said, it's something they do to mock us.

I'm just letting you in on the joke.

19. Howard Dean... for his statement on judicial nominees...

FOUR YEARS LATER, THE RULES HAVE CHANGED
Dean Statement on Bush Judicial Nominees

Washington, DC - Democratic National Committee Chairman, Gov. Howard
Dean, issued the following statement on the fourth anniversary of
President Bush's initial submission of his slate of federal judicial
nominees. The announcement four years ago marked a disturbing beginning
to a string of divisive and unilateral judicial picks that ignored the
tradition of consultation that began with George Washington and extended
through President Clinton.

"Over the past four years, Democrats and Republicans have worked
together in a bipartisan manner to confirm 208 of the President's
judicial appointees--that's more than 95 percent of Bush's
choices," said Governor Dean. "Now, Washington Republicans want to
blow up 200 years of Senate history and change the rules simply because
they aren't getting their way on a handful of radical nominees.
Democrats have tried to offer a compromise to break the Republican
gridlock and get back to doing the people's business. Instead, the
Republicans have rejected bipartisanship in favor of an extremist
agenda.

"The American people deserve better than this partisan bickering.
Instead of shutting down the Senate over a few radical judges, George
Bush and Bill Frist should put their political ambitions aside and take
action to reduce gas prices, cut the costs of health care, and create
jobs."

"Democratic Hero of the Week" -- I like that. And Callahan is doing a GREAT thing. This is so important, and it's amazing there's no pressure on the GOP to do a dang thing about it.

Hurray for Senator Callahan!! :D
