Call your Congressman now to oppose PATRIOT III
Once the Real ID Act passes, it will be too late to take it back. It's before the House today. Call even the Republicans and tell them all the Gun Owners of America, the Firearm Owners of America, the Garden Club of America and every major religious organization in America is opposed to the Act. Most Republicans in the House were co-sponsors. Get them to re-think their positions.

For the Democrats, a lot of whom plan to defect so Halliburton gets its money, point out that every civil rights and environmental organization plus the American Bar Association is opposed to the Act and do they really want to lose their next primary.

1. Done. Called my congresscritter's office this morning.
Daniel Lipinski, D, 3rd Illinois. Told the kid; and he was a kid - sounded like he was about 15, on the phone that if Danny Boy voted for this, he would definitely hear some rumbling in the district.

Little background on Mr. Lipinski, he literally inherited this seat from his father last year. His father, William Lipinski, aka "Bungalow Bill" ran in the Illinois primary in March with no opposition.

Last June or July, I'm not sure exactly when, "Bungalow Bill" decided he was going to retire and let his son run for his seat.

The Pukes, working with "Fast Eddie" Vrdolyak, put up an non-entity from Cicero to run against whoever the Cook County Regular Democrats decided to put in. Typical Chicago and Cook County politics.

Anyhow, the kid on the phone today realizes that Danny Boy is probably looking at a challenger in the primary next year. He told me that he didn't know how Danny Boy was going to vote this afternoon but that the Congressman is very aware that many of his constituents are not happy with the way he won his seat. I told this staffer that this vote today was crucial as far as I was concerned. If he votes for it, I'll do everything I can to help whoever decides to run against Danny Boy next year in the Dem primary.
