A Lesson For Democrats : When you lay down with dogs....
you get up with fleas or a serious case of mange.

This morning on C-SPAn, in "debate" about supplemental appropriations for continuing the war in Iraq, one Republican speaker reminded the other side that the majority of Democrats had voted for the war, including their last presidential nominee...

Once they made the decision to lay down with the Dirty Dog Republicans, it is not easy to get rid of the fleas...

2. That's what they say.
I, along with a great many of others here, never believed any of the crap that the administration was spewing. It contradicted all the previous intelligence, not to mention common sense.

If we were not fooled, why were our representatives in Washington fooled?

4. I agree. I'm just cynical enough to believe that they
sat around a room and decided they didn't have the votes to stop this juggernaut so let the Rs choke on it. To hell with the citizenry who would have to lose their children and foot the bill. And, God forbid, we should care about what happens to the citizenry of another nation. Election cycles are more important.

5. Gotta disagree with this.
This line of criticism blames the victim. True, the Dems were pansies, but the blame for the war falls squarely on the little feller, Dubya, and on the new Rovist Republicanism Dubya represents.

The little feller pranced around lying with a straight face about the reasons for war. He stampeded a frightened, ignorant, and trusting American people (the other victims) into a war for nothing.

If you have an American president willing to be so reckless with the truth and so radically simple-minded and political in his approach to his responsibilities, everyone in the country is going to be made a fool. Even the ones who were right look like fools. Bush made the biggest mistake in U.S. history and made asses of us all.

8. Saw that on C-Span....
The "R" Rep who spoke in tandum with Louise Fletcher(D) of New York.

They will always use that line. He said something to the effect (paraphrasing)....this hourse overwhelmingly voted for this Authorization, I could list names after names.....and even the last Democratic Nominee voted for the authorization....yak, yak, blah, blah.

Yes, it hurts when they can still use this vote against us to make their point to continue getting what they want. Assholes!

Hope this doesn't happen again, and that in the future, we vote our conscience and not for politics' sake.

10. Yes, you are right.
I was just casually watching as I was getting dressed (here on the West Coast).....so I didn't pay much attention to the players beyond the party affiliation letter behind their name....and the rethoric that the "R" guy put out. I hated the fact that this "R" guy made a point that actually had some merit, on its face....unfortunately.

11. A vote for war is, well, a vote for war
Can't really put it any clearer than that. I am disappointed in any Democrat who voted for the war for whatever reason. Now, I don't want to speak to all wars for all times, but only for this war, this time. This war was clearly unjustified, and anyone with a connection to the internet could have determined that. Trusting US intel without double checking was just plain careless and irresponsible, after already knowing how they had cooked intel earlier.

Nope, no excuse. Does that mean I will not support them in other areas? Nope. Being disappointed does not mean I hate them and will not vote for any of them, but it does mean that I am suspicious of them.

However, they are still miles better than any repug I have seen out there, even if they did vote for that heinous travesty.

I am a bit too far to the left to ever really be totally satisfied with anyone who is electable nation-wide, so I just accept that they will do things I do not like, and as long as that is relatively infrequent, I can live with it.

And if we make our views known, and make them look up and notice, maybe next time, they will think a bit longer before casting that vote.
