Can someone tell me one good thing about this guy. Every issues he seems to be on the wrong side of and constantly bad mouths the party in the press. Is he trying to be the Lieberman of the House?

Can someone let me know his good side?

1. He may be the only Democrat who can win Frist's Senate seat
when he retires next year...

That's a good thing...

4. How many HAVEN'T is the better question.
I may not agree with Ford Jr. 100 percent of the time, but I'd rather have someone in office in my state with whom I agree 85 percent of the time than none of the time.

He probably is the only Dem, save Phil Bredesen, who won't be running for the seat, who could win a statewide office in Tennessee right now.

5. He'll be the next Lieberman
smiling for the camera, collecting corporate money, and running down the party for his own benefit.

it is worse to have someone like him than it is to have a repub.

12. Didn't say it was an excuse - I just was pointing out that most all of
Congress has been taken over by corporations and special interests.

In so far as Ford is concerned, I simply don't have a choice if I want to get rid of the fundies in office around here.

Sad, isn't it?

7. I agree
I'd rather have him then a republican. Corker is now working with some guy who worked with the SBVT people. I was really disappointed because I thought Corker was better then that. :( I read in the Tn section that so far Ford junior is pretty up there in polls and Corker is trailing which is good news. Another guy is running (I think he's republican?) but he's up there with him. I saw him talking on CSPAN once about Bush's budget and he was asking about the tax cuts and he was talking about how people are getting cut from medicaid etc. and Bush is still doing his tax cuts for his wealthy friends. The moderator of this event was making a face like "you just didn't go there" type of thing.

17. Here's an article about Corker
It's from an Email he wrote.

Link: http://chattanoogan.com/articles/article_66447.asp

Snip: <Former Chattanooga Mayor Bob Corker says in a letter seeking support for his U.S. Senate campaign that he is a "conservative."

Some other candidates in the race have sought to picture Mr. Corker as a "moderate.">

Snip: <I thoroughly enjoyed chairing the Statesmen's dinner where we first brought George W. Bush to speak in Tennessee. This spring I have also had the pleasure of meeting many more Tennessee Republicans at Lincoln Day Dinners all across our state where we met together and renewed our commitment to conservative values.

I believe in free markets, low taxes, limited government, balanced budgets, the entrepreneurial spirit, the importance of faith and the power of prayer. I am pro-life and committed to protecting traditional marriage.>

Snip: <As Mayor of Chattanooga, I took steps that cut violent crime by 1/2 in 3 years, made city government smaller by eliminating 250 positions and attracted over $2 billion in new private investment.

As I was leaving the Mayor's Office, the Chattanooga Times Free Press paused to comment on the accomplishments that occurred during our term. I was deeply touched by their praise and want to share excerpts from their editorials with you:

"Mayor Corker has not been singleminded. He is a man of perpetual motion, of great ideas, of varied interests and boundless energy."
"We salute Mayor Corker for his varied, vigorous, vital service that will be of lasting and multiplying value to the people of Chattanooga and our entire tri-state community for many years to come.">

16. Harold Ford Jr=SELLOUT.
I'm from the 9th Congressional District, and he's an utter DISGRACE. His father was NOTHING like he is-when people went to Harold Ford Sr. with a problem, he went out of his way to help people; he didn't make deals and appease the conservative machine the way Jr. does!

SENATOR HAROLD FORD, JR.-MY ASS!!!!

18. I don't know who to vote for either
I do want us to get more democrats but if Ford is a sellout like how Liberman is I don't want that. I'd rather have Corker personally. He wasn't a bad mayor even though I don't like the whole marriage thing. *sigh*
