Let's call them what they are: EXTREMISTS
I find myself referring to the Christian right, the wacky segment, as "fundies." Others call them evangelicals. These names are correct but when we vilify them we are inadvertently vilifying people in those groups who do not seek to impose their narrow views on all of us.

The wacko Christians, Robertson, Falwell, Dobson, all want to impose their views on our whole country even if their views are in the minority and go against the very heart of our constitution. Actually they're called Dominionists but most people don't know what that term means.

I propose we call them "religious extremists." Everyone knows what that is and there is no mistaken that it is NOT a good thing. Also, decent Christians do not get inadvertently bunched into this group and we will not be falsely perceived as Christian haters.

3. "America Taliban" seems to be picking up steam
I've seen it used in headlines for LTEs here at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, it was a little shocking at first.

I actually prefer "Radical Clerics" to describe these "church" leaders, but hey, go with what's gonna get through to the sheep--er, voting public.

2. I like that idea
"The wacko Christians, Robertson, Falwell, Dobson" Could these be the false prophets referred to in Revelations?

6. As I posted on another thread
I have been on many of their sites. It seems a lot of them are Catholics too who follow the hard line of the church, especially on matters of sex, birth control and abortion. I guess that is why * courted them in his election.

4. Radical Cleric. As in: Radical Cleric Pat Robertson decried homosexuality.

5. Great idea
I like it. That's what they are, too.

And I like it that "extremists" is a more loaded word than "fundie" or "Dominionist".
