Letter to Robert Talton, Texas House, re Gay foster parents
Letter sent to the "Honorable" Robert Talton in the Texas House that authored the bill (that the House approved) to prohibit, retroactively, gays and lesbians from being foster parents. Use it as you will or feel free to edit.

Dear Sir,
I am not in your district so you are safe from my vote (or lack thereof, in this case). I am not gay and while I do not agree with it as a sexual preference, I have friends and others I've met over the past almost 60 years of life that do meet that profile. I don't judge them by my lifestyle but rather, their ethics. I have yet to be disappointed.
Your speeches and attachments to this bill are truly repugnant and demonstrate that ignorance as the best way to promote intolerance.
If these people are truly that much of a detriment to the children that they foster, then what do you say about the possibility of their own children that they may bring into their current non-hetero life? Shouldn't they not also be protected?
Why don't we just make being gay illegal and solve all your issues? We can put them in camps, tattoo them, and make them wear armbands or something similar.
After that, we can start after the next group that doesn't meet your standards. Please check with God first (you must have a direct line), so we get the order right.

Sincerely,

1. i was a foster parent to 50
children over the years. the system is the most inhumane of all. you cannot imagine their thought process. never in the child's best interest. we so desperately need loving homes for these kids......

2. Bless you for opening your heart and home.
Know that the world is a better place because of your efforts and those like you. Embarrassed to say I haven't. I'm grateful for people like you as all those kids are challenged, mentally, physically and generally both. I am appalled at those that judge them.

3. they give back
far more than i give. believe me, just to provide a clean safe place for them to eat healthy and sleep peacefully. they come back now and again, suprised to see ive saved their drawings and momentos. i am so blessed. i adopted three "unadoptable" siblings (4,4 and 5) ten years ago, and check this out: they suspended my license when i did so because my home was deemed unsafe because of them. sigh.
