Clark wins the Calculus Guy poll
http://www.calculusman.com/DemBracket/currentpoll.shtml

And this was out of 900+ votes, which is quite a few more than participate in polls here.

Just... umm... pointing this out.

9. We have 2 more weeks of this!
Then I don't know what we are in store for....a late year snowstorm??

As for Hilary? Don't worry..The neocons are drolling over the possibility of running against her...It will never happen. She will crash and burn by N. Hamshire....anyone want a bet on this?

11. As far as what you said about Hillary,
someone on here told me the exact same thing about the possibility of Ratzinger becoming Pope when I expressed a fear about that right after JPII died. And you see how much that prediction was worth.

I see the media trying to make it a fait accompli, and too many people in this country are still heavily under the media's influence.

Is it really supposed to stay cold like this another two weeks? I don't ever remember the trees being this behind in leafing out this late in the spring. And usually this time of year, it warms up right after we have a snow storm and the snow is gone almost instantly. Really unusual weather, but I guess we can always use the moisture.

12. I know nothing about Catholic politics
so I would never make a prediction. But Hiliary is a lightning rod and way to may would never consider her. I still do not think most of America will vote for a woman for President right now. The moderate swing voters in open primary states would not want BC back in power. Like it or not the country has changed since 9-11. Hiliary has name recognition which helps her now for polling. Only God knows how BC's health will be doing in 3 years.

Yes, on and off cold for 2 more weeks

4. At least we have some time to work on
getting the media to pay attention that informed activists don't want Hillary. The question becomes, will they care? or, more likely, just scream (((((((((((Hillary))))))))))) even louder?

I bet on the later....of course!

5. Correct.
Even the informed activists who aren't necessarily Clarkies don't like Hillary.
In fact, despite all these corporate media polls, I don't know a soul in person show supports Hillary and I run in some pretty big Democratic circles these days. It has to either be name recognition or they're interviewing Republicans for these polls.

I just now changed the picture. It was depressing me.

He had a conginital disease and was dying of both starvation and pneumonia (long story) and it was so sad to have to put him down. Then, three days later, I lost my grandma. I had just lost my job five weeks ago, too. It's been a shitty month. I'm so glad May is here, I could jump for joy!

it does suck. 4 years is way to short even for dogs.

i lost 2 dogs in my life. the first when i was about 10. we had him since before i was old enough to remember. the second one we got around the time i was 13 and lost him when i was 20. i don't think i will ever get another pet since the loss is too tough to take.

i hope things get better for you this month.

13. It was freeped! FREEPED, I tell you!
Clark's supporters are all very well-educated, intelligent, and computer savvy people. They are freeping these polls with their superior hacking skills. They're too damn smart to be real Democrats. FREEPERS!

Just the other day, as a matter of (disputed) fact, I caught the maniacal Kris Kristofferson freeping a poll at this very site---caught him red (state) handed. I told him if he sang me a little Bobby McGee I'd let him go. It was sorta disappointing though, his voice is kinda the worse for wear.

Back in the old days that guy used to sound just like Janis Joplin!

20. You know what?
I'm real tired of all the 2008 primary garbage going on here and are going to just start putting people on ignore. THIS time I'm hiding the thread, but it occurred to me that there's something some of you need to understand:

you're NOT going to be doing your candidate much good if you make everyone sick and tired of hearing about him well before then. Candidate fatigue sets in. Count me already afflicted with it.

22. You know what?
I'm real tired of some people here telling me what I can and can't post and threatening me with shit like, "you're not doing your candidate any favors.. na-na-na-boo-boo." It sounds very childish in a bratty way (it's OK to be a little childish and have some fun every now and then).

I didn't see you bitching when calculus guy (or whoever it was) was posting the links to the original NCAA-style bracket game to begin with. I didn't start the game and neither did any of the posters on this thread. Someone else on another site started the game and many DUers were voting. I thought they MIGHT want to know the results.

Why don't you take a chill pill and simply NOT comment on this stuff? It would please all of us, apparently.

25. Please note also that
the abundance of Clark-related threads and polls was mostly driven recently by people supporting other candidates who were seeking to put Clark down.

True Clark supporters post threads about him only when something noteworthy has actually happened. This is noteworthy and was previously a topic of discussion here long before Clark won it.

So take your fatigue away and afflict yourself with it. }(

28. There is no way to freep polls at DU or Kos
Because they are linked to the user name (unless you have more than one and I don't know any Clarkie who does).
And, in so far as this poll is concerned, the only way to "freep" it would have been to vote from different computers or using a different IP address, which the Gore people readily admit they did on one of their blogs. I'm sure SOME Clark fans voted twice: once at home and once at work or at their friends house or something, but no more so than any other diehard did.
For the record, I only voted once. AND, I voted for Gore up until he was up against Clark. I was VERY happy with the final two.

31. You mean the polls put out by the corporate polling companies
Edited on Mon May-02-05 02:08 AM by FrenchieCat
who do the bidding of the 24/7 cable, who will speak only certain candidates names over and over again? Those "Scientific polls"?

The problem is this.....There are Internet activists and there are Sue and Joe couch potatoe.

Clark has a lot of Internet Activist support....and Sue and Joe Couch potatoe watch a lot of TV. So yeah...since Uniformed Sue and Joe keep hearing Hillary, Edwards and Kerry.....that's who they choose in the polls, when called. Don't mean they know diddly squat....just means that they are easily manipulated.

So yes, I agree that Clark may not win Scientific polls....and the coporate media and their friends like it very much that way.

That's why we, the people, who know what's up, don't stand a chance.

You point is oh so true....but also also very sad.

34. Which is why we need to go out to Sue and Joe Couch Potato's
home and give them info about Clark and about how awful the media is.

The easiest way I've found to do this is ask them if they know about a few simple issues that effect them. For example, do they know about Peak Oil? Do they know about the effects of the bankruptcy bill on their personal life? Do they know that their local draft boards are, again, gearing up?

There are sources in the "mainstream" media to back up and explain all these issues (but usually in newspapers and buried on Page 15), so you can avoid the whole "Internet is a conspiracy" topic, but still explain to them that they're missing a lot of important information about their lives because the TeeVee media focuses on car chases, celebrity trials and which candidates have the best hair or suits or <insert superficial meme here>.

Once you get their interest (and you won't, always, but mostly you will), then you start a dialog about why we need to research our candidates and pick someone who is for the people and not the corporate welfare structure. If you get this far, Clark is an easy sell - particularly if you get a household in which Sue and Joe have learned, from personal experience, that things aren't as peachy as the media says, but they haven't quite figured out why.
