Spitting on the troops
Anyone know of any Democratic plans to draw attention to how Bush has been spitting on the troops? Seems the time is right for a mass Memorial Day mobilization, led by Dem candidates who want to run in '06. How about a petition drive at picnics and grocery stores demanding that Bush restore and expand veterans' benefits and get proper equipment to the troops in the field?

I hope party leaders and organizers are going to seize this opportunity to drive a critical message home about this president's hypocrisy (although I fear most of them are busy picking out their outfits for a photo-op at the local cemetery).

Please post if you know of any creative action planned that's more than the usual "Bush is Hitler, bring the troops home" variety.

1. Sptitting on the troops is a right analogy
particulary given the stupid magnets and their false claims before the election.

I'd like you to consider running a grassroots campaign for your local candidates. You can be the media, start a petition, and work for candidates who support the troops. I believe you and I have the power within our own communities to open peoples' eyes--even if only little by little. Please join Democracy Cell Project and become an activist. Here, check this out: http://www.democracycellproject.net You can learn how to empower yourself, your neighbors, and friends. We have no time to wait for Howard Dean or someone to direct us.

Thanks,

2. Simple bumper sticker/magnet idea to help out.
I was thinking a black and white bumper sticker saying

Bush: Stop cutting Veteran's benefits!

would be fairly visible, and get a point across quickly. No abbreviations or acronyms. Shows who is the problem, and who is being hurt in plain English.

Or if somebody could come up with a CHEAP magnet, that says something along those lines, we could start sticking them on people's cars who have the Support our Troops magnet and a W'04 sticker.

Many people wouldn't notice for a long time, and some would keep it there since it is supporting our troops.

Have them ready for Mem day, and away you go.

4. That slogan will be pulled off of a car.
Bush: Support our Veterans, don't cut their benefits.

That might not.

6. Well, if you want to FORCE the issue, yes. :-)
I was thinking of something that would be right inline with somebody's beliefs to support the troops.

If they realized that Bush was cutting VA funding, they'd ask how he was supporting the troops.

I wonder if Bush has a magnet on Air Force One...

7. One can only hope.
The magnate would cause the onboard computers to crash and then ....well. Yep that's our Bush. I think you can count on it. The man is his own worst enemy.
