One vote away from drilling in Arctic National Wildlife Refuge
I'm an member of the Santa Clara Valley Audubon Society's Environmental Action Committee and am asking your support. My representative and senators are opposed to drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. What about your representatives?
House and Senate negotiators are close to agreement on a budget resolution that is expected to include language that would open the Arctic Refuge to oil drilling. If the final agreement includes the budget language, the vote on final passage of the budget will be the most critical vote ever for the fate of the Arctic Refuge. House and Senate negotiators are close to agreement on a budget resolution that may include language that would open the Arctic Refuge to oil drilling. A vote is expected as soon as tomorrow!

Every single member of Congress will cast an important vote on this issue - call your two U.S. Senators and your U.S. Representative right now and urge them to oppose any budget for FY'06 that includes drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge! You can reach your lawmakers instantly by calling the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121-- where they will immediately connect you with your lawmaker!

1. Go for it: despoil the whole area for a few barrels of oil

2. My representative is Pombo. He isn't going to change his mind.
Since phone calling won't help to change his view, I wrote a scathing letter the the editor about the hypocrisy of voting to drill while at the same time voting down an ammendment to increase fuel efficiency standards.

Hopefully, we will kick this loser out in 06'!

3. My sympathy
...for having Pombo as your representative. Thanks for sending the letter to the editor. If Pombo did hear that his constituents cared about the Refuge, he might be concerned about his job retention possibilities.

4. We are shipping our Alaska oil to Asia NOW
Why don't we just keep the 7% we ship to Asia fram Alaska here in the U.S.? I may post this article later.

It seems that most citizens are totally unaware we are shipping our oil to Asia.
