5. Not much to approve or disapprove of really
But I think that he's certainly been helping our party in terms of fundraising and not really hurting it in any way so I'll go with approve.

recount strategy.

I also disapprove of his VP selection not so much because Lieberman is a bad Dem (I rank Lieberman about 3/4s the way down) but because Lieberman is a representative of the same Wall St interests that Gore stood up for with the media deregulation panel he ran.

Gore is a fine Democrat too, but there are so many more Democrats who have a much more sensible approach to balancing the interests of consumers and Wall Street.

7. Al Gore is one of the best!
I love Al Gore. I was such a fan in 2000 and adored him and Clinton. I was too young to vote in 2000 though. :(

10. Gotta be Gore in 2008 !
That was an awesome speech from Al Gore yesterday!

He has been making a lot of awesome speeches these past couple of years. Working with moveon and the Kerry-Edwards campaign. Plus all his business activities (Google, Apple, Current, etc.). Where does he find the energy? (And still you find people who think he's hiding out in a log cabin ...)

You can find the transcript of yesterday's speech, and lots more ideas for how you can help build support for Gore on these sites:
www.algore-08.com
http://algore2008.net

Gore has the intelligence, the experience and the charisma to make a great President. Would already be in the 5th year of his Presidency were it not for the shenanigans of Katherine Harris, Jeb Bush, and 5 right-wing judges on the Supreme Court.

Gore is a serious politician who sees issues from all sides (like Kerry), but can also make clear decisions (like W). He is an intelligent progressive with strong moderate credentials, which means he can appeal to both liberals and centrists.

With Dean running the DNC, Gore has a good shot at making a comeback. We should be getting ready to give him our support.

You can start by voting in the Championship matchup on this site:

12. follow-up poll
Of the 16 people who until now say they disapprove Gore - what is your reason for disapproving him?

a) I am a Republican Troll who just came here to cause trouble.

b) I am a fanatical supporter of John Kerry/Wes Clark and I don't want Gore to poll better than my guy.

c) I support the decision to invade Iraq and any day now Rumsfeld is gonna find those WMD. Just you wait!

11. "You win some. You lose some.
Then there's the little-known third option."

Best. Line. Ever.

(...that I've heard uttered at a national party convention, anyway)

I honestly have to try to stop myself from imagining how the country would be if we'd had Gore as President or, indeed, Kerry at the helm now. They are such decent, intelligent, principled, GOOD people, and not just in comparison to the criminally negligent jerk currently in residence.

13. I just now saw the poll - I love Al
Think about it.
His concession of the Presidency in the 2000 Election Debacle was the penultimate sacrifice one can make for their country, and he was gracious about it. Since then, he's periodically given speeches that have left clear signs of the multitude of events which might have been different had he emerged the victor. He's spoken about all the vital issues we have faced, still face, and will face. If his policies would have been implemented we might not have these high gas prices. We'd have more hybrid and other fuel efficient cars on the road. No huge tax credits for buying Escalades and Suburbans. Research for new eco-friendly power sources. Campaign reform - real campaign reform, wasn't he one of the first to advocate public financing to take the corporate interests out of it? And how about the internet(s). No, he didn't "invent" it himself (and never said so), but he was visionary in seeing and understanding the potential of the technology. And then he made sure the funding came through to do it. And then his speech yesterday on the nuke option was incredibly satisfying, he pulled together all the aspects of the so called religious right's overwhelming dominance of the GOP.
I could go on: security, the economy, health care...but I'd rather everyone read or watched his speeches themselves. To my mind, if we the people are offered the chance elect this man our president again, and we don't take it firmly in our hands and make it happen then we deserve to be what the GOP have always thought us: meaningless peasants, to be used and tossed away like any other commodity.

14. His concession was an incredibly selfless act
It always reminds me of this verse "America the Beautiful":

O beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife.
Who more than self their country loved
And mercy more than life!

16. Dave, it would be more accurate if you posted the NUMBER of votes
used to determine the percentages.

The way you have it worded gives the impression that the same number of people voted when it actually varies anywhere from 200+ to 400+.
