May it stick forever.
We're gonna need stuff like this. I was talking with a friend of mine from Houston, yesterday, who told me delay would NEVER be voted out by his constituents. They LOVE him. He curries their favor like nothing you ever saw. Remembers them by name and when they ask him questions at a local town hall meeting, it's not a staffer who gets back to them once he returns to Washington, it's him personally. My friend said delay stopped a big local boondoggle of a rapid transit system they all call "the choo-choo train" that cost a fortune and doesn't serve the people in and around Sugarland - which is delay's district. So he got the funds pulled. Also, apparently he was the only congressperson to meet, personally, with NASA employees when they had a gripe, and he made sure their gripe got funded and not put on "ignore."
Horrendous to hear, I tell ya, and my friend is staunchly liberal and gay, besides, so the persecution by republi-CONS and delay in particular really hits home to him. But this is what he told me - that it'll probably be a cold day in hell before delay's constituents ever vote him out. He does their bidding meticulously.
Which means our job is harder. Not impossible, just HARDER.
DAMMIT.
