perfectly targetted at the liars and hypocrites. Jon's own outrage came through and added to the impact. So the piece started with funny things, but ended with strong, clear statements. Needs to be seen.

Recommended.

Edited to add: How could I forget?

THANK YOU DZIKA!!!

8. At least now we can email out the link to dzika's video recording
You're right - WE don't need to be convinced, though we can appreciate the presentation and be gratified that it was seen by millions on TV. But we DO need tools to convince other people. Dzika has given us a good one, something that we can email to everyone we can think of whom it might help convince.

I love it when he gets mad. All the topical segments were brilliant. One of the best Daily Shows of the year. And they're all good.

10. How can people remain so dumb? I feel like I'm in the era of segregation.
I feel like it's the same arguments against blacks as it is against gays. It's a sad sad state society is in when they must exclude someone because of their own ignorance and fear. I'm so glad I do not watch CNN or any cable news, it all makes my stomach sick anyway, their obvious antics of pushing their homophobic agenda's down mindless cable news watchers throats. The sick people are the ones pushing violence, and the sick pedophiles are mostly heterosexual foster parents that abuse children. Let's counter that with the truth.

Brilliant piece for Jon Stewart!

12. Jon Stewart is my new Rock star!!!
He is the only one out there saying what American's feel.

I love the way Chris Matthews always throws in one of Jon's clips at the end of his show on Sunday mornings.
(although he didn't run the one where Jon calls him a "dick" also).

He is coming to Columbus next Friday night, I wanna go!!!!

20. It's hard to copy video links from Comedy Central
I've tried to post links directly to the videos on Comedy Central's Daily Show site and it doesn't work well.

I create these video clips myself so I can post them when and where I want.

18. The "study" was sponsored by--you guessed it--
Edited on Wed Apr-27-05 10:08 AM by spooky3
The extremely RW Family Research Institute.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=14723445&dopt=Citation

I can't be sure that this is the study to which the "lady" referred because the abstract does not provide the "11 times" statistic she cited, but a Google Scholar search turned up several studies of this same ilk by this same author. All appeared in an extremely poorly regarded journal, Psychological Reports, where practically anything sent in can get published.

http://ammons.ammonsscientific.com/homepage/submission.php

Based on the abstracts of authors' work alone, the studies are badly designed. They do not even qualify as "junk science."

24. NYT: Microsoft is re-examining legislative priorities

April 27, 2005

Microsoft Weighs Reversal on Gay Rights, Gates Says

By SARAH KERSHAW

Bill Gates, at a Microsoft
conference in Seattle on Monday,
is re-examining legislative
priorities.

SEATTLE, April 26 - Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, has indicated he may reconsider his company's decision not to support a Washington State gay rights bill amid the growing firestorm inside and outside the company that exploded after the recent disclosure that Microsoft had changed its position on the bill.

In an interview with The Seattle Times on Monday, Mr. Gates, who rarely grants interviews and declined through a spokesman Tuesday to grant one to The New York Times, indicated that he was surprised by the backlash to the company's turnaround on the legislation. He also suggested that Microsoft, which had been known for decades as a corporate leader on gay rights and had supported the bill in previous years, might change course next year because of the controversy.

The bill was defeated by one vote in the State Senate last week. Microsoft had withdrawn its support, and critics said the company was under pressure from a prominent local evangelical minister who threatened a boycott of Microsoft products.

"We certainly have a lot of employees who sent us mail," Mr. Gates told The Seattle Times. "Next time it comes around that'll be a major factor for us to take into consideration."

27. This is very good news - Microsoft had better learn that there are
bigger and angrier potential boycotters than a local evangelical minister. Shame on them! They live down to their reputation as the suppressive, greedy, power-at-all costs company.

It's about time that these craven corporate types learned that gays not only have their own voice, they have a LOT of straight and bi friends who support them against intolerance. Stupid, stupid Microsoft. May many others learn this lesson without going through the caving-to-the-RW-wackos step.

Typed into my gorgeous new Apple Macintosh G5 iMac with an unbelievable 20" flat monitor. Running the Apple browser Safari, which is even better than Mozilla's Firefox, while both leave Microsoft's Internet Explorer - with its features neglected for years in order to push for monopoly by integration with the Windows OS - totally in the dust. I do have Microsoft's Word/Office/Powerpoint programs because it IS a monopoly industry standard, unfortunately. But at least I don't use their email program - the built-in Mac one is great and less vulnerable.

That show is one of the best I have ever seen on television and an incredible relief when WE THE PEOPLE need it most.

Can't wait to tune in tonight. I've even convinced my mom and grandma to start watching in lieu of the nightly news (which they've already seen in the morning and evening telecasts). They call me laughing the next day and even watch for the reruns. Grandma voted RED, but we are bringing her back around!
