Okay I'm ready to admit it, Harry Reid is doing AWESOME
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2005/4/26/133311/075

This Kos article is right on about Reid and how he plays his cards.

I admit that I was one of the biggest skeptics about Reid to begin with. I even wrote Durbin an e-mail telling him to challenge Reid for the job. But I've realized that the structure right now is perfect. Reid is actually a brilliant strategist and has that nice-guy touch to him while at the same time he is tough as nails. Durbin is great for number 2 because with the exception of maybe Boxer, he's the best attack dog we have.

I was wrong about Reid and I think that I am about to be proven even MORE wrong.

Lott was usually able to beat Daschle, but Reid has twice the brain cells that Frist has and I think that it's showing.

1. I agree
Offering to compromise on the judicial filibuster issue and having that offer turned down by Frist was brillant. Frist has painted himself into a corner.

I am very please with Harry Reid.

2. I was fairly skeptical of him as well,
but he sure is a fighter, and is accomplishing positive things.

3. Disinclined to trust a Mormon but
Harry Reid is the best thing to happen to this party in a very long time.

Daschle's defeat might turn out to be in our best interests.

4. Reid has these nuts figured out.
He knows he and the Dems are going to come out smelling like roses and reasonable people while Frist et al will appear to be unyielding control freaks. Reid must have known Frist wouldn't accept a compromise.

Those radicals think they have a mandate.

6. He is putting the Repugs through hoops as they scramble to react.
Its better we keep them reacting then have them be proactive. I think old Harry has a few tricks up his sleeve.

7. Reid's doing a good job
From his position in the minority, he's got a huge handicap, but he's doing a lot of good. I hope he keeps improving, because he's such a damn sight better than Daschle. His ability to tweak GOP noses heartens the other Senators in his party, and frustrates the bejesus out of the Republicans.

Reid's ability has given other Democrats the go-ahead to speak up as well.

8. I disagree with Kos on this one
I think Reid was playing Russian roulette and was lucky enough to get an empty chamber.

9. What?? You Admit You Were Wrong About Something?
I guess you're not a Republican because they'd rather be wrong 100 times than admit it once....hey I agree, I was not optimistic and am really happy with his job performance. BushCo is pretty much going down in flames, get the marshmallows!

Reid is peeing in his pants -- "please please compromise . . . "

14. Reid kicked butt today on CSPAN
Reid did a great job debating McConnell... I was impressed. It was the first time I'd seen him in a situation that required him to 'think on his feet' and he did a really excellent job. He's a very smart man.

You know, after watching so much blather coming from the mouths of the Repugs in the past 5 years, when I hear a Democratic Senator like Reid or Boxer cut throught the crap and get to the meat of the debate, I realize how sad a state our great country is in. (sigh)
