Polls: Bush doesn't get good marks on the environment.
These numbers are good, but they should be better. Bush should have a 100% disapproval rating on the environment. But nonetheless, this is decent news.

39% think he's doing a good job protecting the environment.
50% think he's doing a poor job.

29% think the environment's getting better.
63% think it's getting worse.

2. Republicans who think that no matter what, things are better
because Bush is in office. Facts don't mean anything to them.

8. People simply don't know better.
The so-called "energy" bill in the House:

- includes $12 billion in tax breaks for energy companies
- allows drilling in the Alaska Wildlife Refuge
- shields petroleum additive companies from legal action

Meanwhile, 51% of people in an AP/AOL poll say that gasoline prices are becoming a financial hardship. How many of these people are looking at mass transit or alternative fuels?

Folks are being kept busy with social hot-button issues while the planet goes to hell. The only way to make this better is to take control. That means finding every way possible to convince a certain number of voters that their health and security depends on a healthy planet, gain a majority in municipal and state legislatures, and evventually at the Federal level.

blockhead supposed to think? I mean, it's not like we're getting anything about the other side of the story, or heaven forbid - the truth about this UNtruth in advertising.

But yeah, I'm surprised that anybody gives even a shred of approval to what this bastard has done to our environment.

BTW - welcome to DU! Glad to have you here! We need you! Now get to work.

13. I guess we can file this next to the "Bush not sexy" poll!
Interesting, though, that even some of the people who think he's doing a good job (39%) don't think the environment is getting better. (Just 29% believed that.)

23. I'll bash whomever I want.
When 39% of the people think Bush is doing a good job protecting the environment, something is wrong. It should be 0%. The media in this country doesn't tell the truth about anything, and thus we end up with unbelievable ignorance in the general population.

25. What's interesting is you have some people who think
the environment is getting worse, but still think Bush is doing a good job protecting it. Because 63% think it's getting worse, but only 50% think Bush is doing a poor job, so you have 13% who think things are worse, but it's not Bush's fault.
