Thank You Colorado Dems
for electing Senator Salazar. He obviously knows about constitutional liberties as he has applied some truth and justice upside the head of radical chrisitian cleric james dobson and his attempt to destroy the constitution.

I'm sure that Senator Salazar would like to receive a short attaboy from non Colorado residents for his efforts to maintain the Constitution.

As I thank Coloradons(?), I am a Mississippi resident and offer my apologies for the two "persons" who represent me in the Senior House.

1. We're lucky to have him. And we know what it's like to have
two right-wing senators...remember that Salazar is new to the Senate. :hi:

He's not new to Colorado politics, however--he knows well who and what Dobson is.

3. Senator Mark Pryor of Arkansas said much the same yesterday
and he's an evangelical Christian. He warned that they (Dobson etc) are not speaking for all Christians or even all evangelicals. Can't find the link right now, but he spoke up beautifully!

5. I worked for his father's (David Pryor) Senate Campaign
in Arkansas when I was in College about three thousand years ago. His Dad was a fine statesman.

9. Here's the link...or at least a link...
to the story:
http://www.nwanews.com/story.php?paper=adg§ion=National&storyid=114091

WASHINGTON — Sen. Mark Pryor lashed out Wednesday at the Christian evangelicals who have joined the attack on Democratic filibusters of President Bush’s judicial nominees.

Their tactics threaten "to make the followers of Jesus Christ just another special-interest group," Pryor said in a conference call with Arkansas reporters. "It is presumptuous of them to think that they represent all Christians in America, even to say they represent all evangelical Christians," added Pryor, 42, a first-term Democrat who has considered himself an evangelical Christian for 25 years.

<snip>

Pryor, who supported some of the filibusters against Bush nominees, said groups such as the Family Research Council are employing the kind of divisive tactics that mark most Washington political brawls. "We need to think about the tone that we as Christians are setting, and think about the examples we are setting," Pryor said, adding that he was concerned about the "vitriol" being displayed.

<snip>

An aide to the senator said later Wednesday that Pryor feels it is especially wrong to imply that all of those who oppose Bush nominees are not Christian.

The Arkansas senator said he understands "how many people are frustrated with the judiciary" but Christians "should represent the best in politics, not the worst in politics."

4. Keeping Coors out of the Senate was huge!!! And our freshman Senator
is starting to come out swinging!!!

We have some good people in Washington, such as Mark Udall (D, Boulder) and Diane DeGette (D, Denver).

We also have our RW wingnuts, Marilyn Musgrave and Tom Tancredo come to mind.

However, even our repub reps have spoken out against the ouster of three members of a gwb "town hall" meeting because of their bumpersticker.

We'll keep fighting the good fight here in CO...MKJ

6. I really like Salazar. I'm glad someone is finally speaking
the truth about the far Christian Right. They want nothing less than a theocracy, and he's finally someone who has the guts to to say so.

8. I'm going to bring this thread up the next time someone calls him a DINO
or suggests that he's going to switch parties like Campbell.

I'm happy with Salazar.

11. He says this "controversy" is all about the pursuit of power.
http://www.denverpost.com/Stories/0,1413,36~33997~2829933,00.html

"Democratic Sen. Ken Salazar stepped up his war of words with Focus on the Family founder James Dobson on Thursday, calling on his group to stop attacking the faith of Democratic senators.

"I would ... encourage you to cease your unfounded attacks on the faith of my Democratic colleagues," Salazar wrote in a letter to Dobson. "The Senate controversy over judges is simply about whether the rules should be broken in the pursuit of power."

Dobson pretends this about just opposing their religious beliefs. What it is really about is trying to put their personal religious beliefs into our legal system. Dobson is a Christian Reconstructionist, and as such, making old testament biblical law the law of the United States is his goal.

Google James Dobson and Dominionism. It's a bit scary. They are really wacko.
