5. Hooray for Laramie! Y'all remember it's an American holiday!
"On May 1, 1886, more than 300,000 workers in 13,000 businesses across the United States walked off their jobs in the first May Day celebration in history." http://www.iww.org/projects/mayday/origins.shtml

Man, I really wish I could drop in! Have a great time!

it's gun education day for me, I think. If I'm not down in the bunker already. My father will be so thrilled. Provided we're all still here, that is. I'm not going out without a fight.

7. By taking little treats around to my friends....
putting them on the stoop, ringing the bell and running away so they don't know who left it.

Well, at least we did this when we were kids. I wouldn't be able to hide fast enough anymore!

Besides, sadly, I'm sure May won't be a good month for my family this year.

10. Other, May Day is a Pagan Holiday, were you thinking of Cinco De Mayo?
Edited on Fri Apr-22-05 05:44 AM by Is It Fascism Yet
May Day, which is a lovely pagan fertility festival, celebrates the greening of nature. At our house May Day will be celebrated with romping and gardening, with a Maypole decked out in ribbons for the kiddies to run circles around, of course. However, you seem to be thinking of Cinco De Mayo, the 5th of May, one of two Mexican Independence days, which I will also celebrate with gusto, being an avid admirer of all things democratic! On Cinco De Mayo I recommend shots of tequila with lime chasers! (And don't forget to eat the worm, muy macho!) PS, an amusing old pagan saying..."Hurray, Hurray, the First of May, and outdoor sex begins today!"

11. Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Battle of Puebla...
It was one of the victories against French forces--not exactly Independance day.

Worms may be found in some kinds of mescal--never in tequila.

FNB's Kieth McHenry has a major role in this. He's a TucSonian now.
