Budget as a "Moral Document"
This probablty isn't the first time it's been said, but here in Ohio the Repubs are again trying to slash services & educational funding while cutting taxes for the rich and one of the Democratic responses has been to talk about the state budget as a "moral document", meaning that how a state decides to spend its money shows where it puts its priorities, and obviouslty our state leaders (and national GOP leaders of course) are intent on making the rich richer.

This is nothing new, but it's the first time I've heard anyone talk about the "moral" aspect of government spending, and I heard it from two different sources in just a few days, one of them at church on Sunday (a fairly liberal church as you might imagine, Catholic by the way).

2. Randi Rhodes uses this language frequently. Give her
a listen, or better, give her a call. Push that button and she'll go on for an hour and stick it to cons right smartly.

Of course the budget is a moral document.
