The Holy Conclave and the Media
Been watching on and off the last few days-esp. today--many newscasters talking of the upcoming conclave meet-up. Lots about the possible spying, and 'educating' us about how the conclave works. Cnn seems-to me at least-to be downright upset that they are not allowed in on the discussions. As they educate us-they forget that it is a hieracal system-and no you can not listen in

1. I suspect all the major cable stations will set up in the square until a
new Pope is elected.

2. Yes they will.
This is better than Terry Schiavo and a yuppie killing put together. More news to hide behind while the real nasty stuff in Iraq is hidden from the public. Not saying that electing a new Pope isn't news. But there are other things to cover. You wouldn't know that though listening to the press in Amerika.

4. I remember seeing a story a couple of years ago...
...that the prime spots to capture footage of the white smoke (once the new Pope is decided) have been reserved years ago.

6. Heard on the news tonight that the name the next cardinal will . . .
call himself (as they get to choose their name), will be "Benedict."

Hmmmm. Either they are following Saint Malchy's prophecy or Benedict is really the last pope before the final pope, who will be named Peter -- like the first pope.

Isn't Peter (per St. Malchy) suppose to be the "evil" one? Or is it Benedict?

Don't laugh. I know it sounds ridiculous; however, the popes have followed the names that St. Malchy predicted.

Is this just more Catholic Dogma? Is there any Catholics on this board that would care to explain why the popes names have followed what St. Malchy has predicted?

I'm serious. With everything going on in the World, and Pope John Paul II even stated he thought GWB was the Antichrist, and he wished he was younger so he could fight him.

Is John Paul II's death proof that he has lost to the Antichrist? It's all very confusing when I read about it all. I need someone who knows how to make sense of it all.
