Remember Frists' "political paranoia" bill??? I just got my response
back from him regarding whether or not the rumors on the INTERNET were true. Frankly, I feel threatened by both his lack of response to the question I asked him AND his promise to work closely with the president and members of congress "to protect America from those who would do us harm." I think I just moved to the top of Senator Frists list of those afflicted with this deadly disease!

Here's what he wrote me! (Remember the question I wrote him was simply are the Internet rumors true?)

Dear Mrs. XXX

Thank you for contacting me. It is an honor to serve as Majority Leader of the United States Senate and a privilege to respond to your concerns.

I regard communication with citizens like yourself as one of my highest priorities. A representative body that is out of touch with its constituents cannot function effectively. With your help, we can ensure that Congress remains well-informed and accountable for its actions.

In the 108th Congress, we were able to pass the first comprehensive Medicare reform in forty years, to promote stem cell research while protecting the sanctity of life, to support our troops in Iraq with $87 billion for equipment, and to continue to keep the economy moving forward by passing tax legislation to promote manufacturing growth. As the Senate Majority Leader, I will continue to work closely with President Bush throughout his second term in office and with my colleagues in the Senate to address the many critical issues confronting our nation, especially the war on terrorism. The leaders of our country face many challenges and certainly need our encouragement. I am confidant that both the President and members of Congress will continue to work together to protect America from those who would do us harm. We all must remain focused on the fundamental importance of this undertaking

As the 109th Congress works to confront the issues facing our nation, I will certainly keep your thoughts in mind.

Again, thank you for contacting me.

Sincerely

William H. Frist MD.
Majority Leader
United States Senate

4. Ummm, no
That wasn't Frist. I haven't followed that one much but I think it was the state legislature in Wisconsin that passed that, though the Governor vetoed. Might want to check that, I'm not certain.

Frist is called "cat killer" because he supposedly adopted cats from the local animal shelter while in Med school to perform experiments on. That story is widely accepted as true though I have never verified it myself.

7. OMG. Does he realize that by most standards of State law today
he would be considered a likely suspect to become a serial murderer? I don't know a lot about Frist, but he creeps me out in a big way! I had never even heard that story!

:scared:

12. The cat story is completely true.
He admitted to it himself in his book.

I lifted this from a post in another thread:

"But my experiments were brought to a halt when I lost my supply of cats. I only had six weeks to complete my project before I resumed my clinical rotations. Desperate, obsessed with my work, I visited the various animal shelters in the Boston suburbs, collecting cats, taking them home, treating them as pets for a few days, then carting them off to the lab to die in the interests of science. And medicine. And health care. And treatment of disease. And my project.

It was, of course, a heinous and dishonest thing to do, and I was totally schizoid about the entire matter. By day, I was little Billy Frist, the boy who lived on Bowling Avenue in Nashville and had decided to become a doctor because of his gently father and dog named Scratchy. By night, I was Dr. William Harrison Frist, future cardiothoracic surgeon, who was not going to let a few sentiments about cute, fuzzy little creatures stand in the way of his career.

In short, I was going a little crazy" (pg 130)

Frist, William. Transplant New York: The Atlantic Monthly Press, 1989.

There is no answer to your question.

10. Your right it does read like a generic form letter!
In fact, I got two of them! Exactly the same. No he didn't address the question at all, but he did remember to tell me he is going to work to protect Americans from all those terrorist out there. Too bad he didn't include his name in a terrorist suspect list! I found the other at the bottom of my pile of mail. I only sent him ONE question so I'm not sure what the other one is for!

9. I Am Not A Christian - But I am A Better Christian Then Frist
Why Am I A Better Christian Then Bill Frist?

Let’s get the preliminaries out of the way.

    1) I do not accept Jesus Christ as my Savior.
    2) I do not believe Jesus Christ died for my sins.
    3) I do not believe in Immaculate Conception
    4) I do not believe in the Virgin Birth
    5) I do not believe in the Transubstantiation of the Host into the Body and Blood of Christ
    6) I have not been baptized.
    7) I am ineligible to take Communion.
    8) I do not believe in the physical resurrection of the dead. (virtual reality maybe)
    9) I do not believe in a physical Heaven or Hell. (virtual reality maybe)
    10) I have not been Born Again.
    11) I do not believe in the literal meaning of Scripture.

I do subscribe to the Beatitudes:

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called sons of God.

Blessed are they that have been persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are ye when shall reproach you, and persecute you, and say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in (virtual reality) heaven.

I believe in the Ten Commandments

    I. I am the Lord your God, Who has taken you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery"
II. "You shall have no other gods but me"

III. "You shall not take the name of your Lord in vain"

IV. "You shall remember and keep the Sabbath day holy"

    V. "Honor your father and mother"

    VI. "You shall not murder"

VII. "You shall not commit adultery"

    VIII. "You shall not steal"

IX. "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor"

    X. "You shall not covet your neighbor's goods. You shall not covet your neighbour's house. You shall not covet your neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his bull, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbour's."

Let’s get to the meat of it – I AM NOT A CHRISTIAN – But I am still a better Christian then Bill Frist.

I spent the last three Christmases and Christmas Eves providing emergency services to families who had lost their homes to disasters. Temporary housing, food, clothing, interfacing with insurance companies and landlords, etc.

This year – for the week before Easter and the week after Easter, I lived in a shelter with the newly homeless. These were families who had lost their homes to a catastrophic general alarm fire. Living in their disaster shelter, helping them with temporary housing, food, clothing, interfacing with insurance companies and landlords, etc.

Two to four times a month I respond to calls for help to families who had lost their homes to disasters. Temporary housing, food, clothing, interfacing with insurance companies and landlords, etc.

I do not do it to build up a reputation for a run for political office. I am in my 60’s and I am going nowhere politically.

I do not do it for the money. My time is donated. I am semi-retired, and this takes away from my part time job.

I do it because it is right – it is the American way.

I may not be a Christian. But, I am a better Christian then Senator Frist.

11. Indeed you are and I am a Christian who reads her bible when the mood
strikes me. I used to call myself a Catholic and still do on most medical release forms, but only for the sake of the other Catholics in my family so that they can bury me the way they are used to. I don't think God really cares what you call yourself as long as you do the right thing!
