Operation Falcon
What do DU members think about the Operation Falcon sweep. I am a bit skeptal about what is being said about the supposed findings. Supposedly, the Justice Department arrested about 1200 people for various reasons. Early this year I learned that the Justice Department inflated the number of people it captured on terrorist charges. In these cases the Justice Department claimed to have captured a large number of terrorist, but when newspapers did investigations into the issue it was found the number was infalated. The Justice Department arrested people who had not done anything that was terrorist related. The people who had been arrested had done thing like disturbing the peace and getting into fights. This makes me skeptial that either some of these people did not do anything wrong, or the Justice Department always knew where these people were and just arrested them all now in order the look good.

1. It's a total smoke screen
Read my post here:

The gov't arrests 40,000 criminals a day. 10,000 in a week is nothing unusual.

2. 10,000 seems inflated.
Were police station jails & courtrooms jam packed? And what happened to crime rates on the date of this sweep.

I want some proof of the 10,000 number, otherwise I'm a little skeptical.

3. I for one am not impressed
and I don't understand what the hulabalooh is about.

Everyone involved knew where to go to look for these people, so what I what to know is why did they make this an "Operation". And what the heck was our local law enforcement doing that they didn't just go pick these people up before?

Am I missing something? If someone could explain that to me, I'd be very appreciative.

4. I saw the AG on Fox New this morning
saying that they deputized all of the local police departments that were involved in these raids. Is this the prelude of a single federal police force?
