plan to swamp the judiciary and make them pay/work hard for not doing the Schiavo thing like they demanded.

sitting here pondering this recent HUGE sweep of arrests and this was what came to mind. don't know what else to make of it and also wondering if the HLS was abused to accomplish it...what do you guys think?

3. I think the motive is threefold

1. Highlight the US Marshals office and attempt to get congress to
increase funding.

2. Demonstrate that the new attorney general is "tough on crime" and
has the "gravitas" of Ashcroft.

3. Use features of the Patriot Act to show how effective it can be in
removing ordinary criminals from the streets.

All of this may yet backfire... as one of more frequent questions I've
heard was "well, why did they wait so long to arrest these people?"

4. The thing to do is to watch the total arrests of fugitives for the
year. If they put on dog and pony show by letting these guys be on the streets for the first quarter of the year so that they could put up this big number in one week it should show.

5. I thought these people were suspects
Don't they have to prove they did the crime?

7. The vast majority
of those arrested were already convicted. They were picked up for parole violations, skipping bail, etc. No tinfoil needed THIS time:think:
