The Kool-Aid Drinkers are so frustrating!!
On another board there is an ongoing dialogue with some diehard NeoCons by myself and a few other progressives. You can quote facts, news articles, poll numbers, etc till you're blue in the face and here is the best that they can come up with about the War Against Iraqis.

Will another attack occur in this country? I think that even Bush would admit that it it will happen some time. But the goal is to eat up their resources, which is precisely what we are doing in Iraq and Afganistan, putting them on the defensive. Would you rather have the front on the war on terrorism there or here?

Personally, I would rather have us taking on Al Zarqawi and his cronies over there than over here with the help of Hussein's UN oil for food money.

How do you argue with such tired old Fox Talking Points?? Sheesh

1. Just my 2cents
Answer that question with this question (if you haven't already):

"Well, would you rather have a few people wishing to attack us here, requiring a reasonable counter terrorist intelligence organization to defend against, or would you rather create thousands of people burning with vengeance to attack us here and anywhere we might travel because we used their homes to fight a war that they weren't responsible for - causing the deaths of their innocent loved-ones?"

2. One thing I've noticed....
is that those people don't consider Iraqi lives in the equation. It's like they should be grateful for us freeing them from that horrible dictator Saddam. It's shameful.

3. Eating up their resources????
Like Russia ate up the resources in Afghanistan and now in Chechnya? Or the way we ate up the resources in Viet Nam?

The only things being eaten up are the precious little respect we had left around the world and our own resources in terms of wealth and manpower?

4. tell them the busheviks are communists!
omg! lookit the mess they've gotten america in! billions $ lost every week, and body bags shipped secretly back....now socsec is being wrecked (that will be the end result, whether it works for a few or not; it will still not be there for millions when needed) and the media is so afraid of truth they looking goofy...when 'truth' explodes upon america, and every pillar of democracy tilted so far, the popular rage that must eventually erupt will throw the bums out (their broken bodies, that is) and a Union Of Soviet States America will be born!

5. Neocon imcompetence with Logic 101
They seem to have in their thick heads the idea that there is a finite number of anti-American terrorists who fundamentally hate US freedom and democracy and that we can lure into Iraq. They fail to understand that anti-US terrorists aren't some separate species materializng out of thin air-- they're people in other countries, many of whom might have supported the US in the past, who resent us because of our foreign policies which are seen to be modern colonialism in Arab lands. Iraq is creating far more terrorists in Iraq and other places (where before Iraq, at least, was a secular place), plus providing them with an ideal training ground.
