Doing DeLay's dirty work?
I read about the two Republicans (Rep. Ron Paul of Texas and Rep. Walter Jones of North Carolina) who attacked Bush bluntly and harshly on the Iraq War. Who thinks they are doing DeLay's dirty work? Who thinks that DeLay is sending a message to Karl Rove and Bush, that they better not do anything that could make things worse for him, because if they do he has the power and the ability to take them down. Who thinks this is just a message DeLay is sending to the White House?

Am I reading too much into it? You can read my thoughts on what I think Democrats should do about Tom here.

and quite the independent mind... he does nobody's dirty work...

2. Yes and no
It's impossible to tell with DeLay, he's survived legal problems before and he thinks he can do it again, regardless of the cost to the rest of his party.

3. Hmmm, rather than orchestrating ....
the criticism of Bushco DeLay could just be going passive aggressive on them.

His not squelching this mini-rebellion could be a message of sorts.

But I see it more as an expression of the downside of walking in lockstep. It's often a strength but but when people break ranks it can get extra nasty.

Seeing such internecine warfare is something of a holy grail amongst us of the rebel alliance. :)

Frank Herbert, of Dune fame, had a nice quote. While not totally apropos to this particular situation it does underscore one key weakness of Bushco that will, in part, lead to their undoing.

http://www.generationterrorists.com/quotes/dune.shtml

"When religion and politics travel in the same cart, the riders believe nothing can stand in their way. Their movement becomes headlong - faster and faster and faster. they put aside all thoughts of obstacles and forget that a precipice does not show itself to the man in a bland rush until it's too late."
