Bugsy Delay's the NRA Keynote Speaker for 2005
Thus demonstrating what a bipartisan issue "gun rights" really are...

"Attractions will include an exhibition hall with "five acres of guns and gear;" a performance of the national anthem by Ted Nugent; seminars on a variety of hunting, personal protection and political issues; and a keynote address by House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Sugar Land.
"He's been a great supporter of the Second Amendment," LaPierre said of DeLay. "We're proud to have him as a speaker."
LaPierre declined to comment on the criticism surrounding DeLay regarding ethics issues and the controversy over his recent statements suggesting federal judges will have to answer for what he calls politically motivated decisions."

By the way, if previous klaverns are any indication, Tom Delay and the NRA are such proud supporters of the Second Amendment that they're going to run every gun nut through metal detectors before they can get near the leadership or their speakers.

1. Sounds like a match made in hell...
But, it is perfection, is it not?

2. Yup....scum clumps together....
Wonder if the NRA's idiotfest will be accompanied by the public gay bashing that distinguished it not so long ago?

Mysteriously, the "gay gun-owners group," the Pink Pistols (which put Barney Frank and Anne Heche on their enemies list) had not a single disapproving word to say about NRA hate speech. Go figure....

3. Have they found a community that recently had a school shooting for their
convention? I'm so old I remember when the NRA was about hunting and sport, not about making sure everyone has the right to buy an assualt rifle.

5. It's Houston...
which has its citizens perforated at a rapid clip by citizens celebrating their "second amendment rights"...

4. Bugsy can turn any "convention" into a Klan rally
with the first inflection of his demonic sermonizing voice. It's appropriate that he's at the NRA rally. Isn't it?

6. A great place to threaten judges, isn't it?
You might recall that diseased fuckwit Heston called on NRA members to lynch Al Gore in 2000....

7. That kind of shit makes conflating the Klan and the NRA
possible.

What exactly did Heston say again? It does not surprise me.

8. Here you go...
""Now, saying 'I'm with you guys on guns.' In any other time or place you'd be looking for a lynching mob."
The crowd responded with "let's do it" and "I've got a rope."
-- The Grand Rapids Press, October 17, 2000 quoting NRA president Charlton Heston and describing audience reaction. "

http://www.bartcop.com/0306.htm

"Mr. Heston asserted that Vice-President Al Gore's position on guns had changed and suggested that "in any other time or place, you'd be looking for a lynching mob." "

http://levin.senate.gov/newsroom/release.cfm?id=209015

"Wayne LaPierre, Executive Director of the NRA and campaigner for Governor George W. Bush, refused to rebut and attempted to justify Charlton Heston's recent comments on "lynching" Al Gore. The NRA, which campaigns on behalf of George W. Bush, has equated this campaign to a "holy" war. Bush has been noticeably silent surrounding the racially charged language used by the NRA's leadership. "

9. Thanks! I didn't mean to make you track it down.
I would have got around to finding it.

Wow! The crowd response is the scariest part. But I remember the first time I heard heston say "From my cold dead hands" I really thought he was gonna start shooting. He had this crazy look in his eyes, his face was beet red, and was shaking tremendously. It must have been a replay of the original or something. If he said it like that everytime then I'm at a loss for words.

10. That's okay...
I spent some time hanging out in the gungeon where our peculiar "pro gun democrats" would swear up and down that Heston never said it, then swear up and down that he didn't mean what he said after the link was produced.

Curiously, none of the "pro gun democrats" ever was even the least bit critical of the crazy old shithead or the NRA...although they would howl in rage whenever this was mention about how "unfair" it weas to mention this ugly incident in conjunction with gun nuts...

11. Those are some troubled waters for sure.
Guns don't kill people. people don't kill people. people with guns kill people. That's what I always say anyway.
