"My Family is Pretty Disappointed " an e-mail from Richard Morrison
My Family is Pretty Disappointed
...... When my family read in the New York Times that DeLay's wife and daughter have made over $500,000 since 2001 from DeLay's various PACs, there was a bit of grousing in the Morrison household.....
But I promise you I can stand the pressure. No matter how many times my adorable daughter Haley submits her resume I won't be hiring her as my campaign manager at a grossly inflated price. Nor will I be hiring my beautiful and talented wife Allyson as a way to funnel campaign contributions into our personal pocketbooks. (Texas is a community property state, so any campaign money paid to Mrs. DeLay becomes Tom's personal property.)....My hero, Congressman Sam Rayburn, once said that there was no way an honest man could get rich in politics. Tom DeLay has certainly done nothing to refute that maxim.....
Fight on!

(Morrison ran a pretty strong campaign for an unknown against delay in 2004 in Texas District 22.)

2. Pretty much. There is a picture of the family and a link to his website
asking for contributions. He started his 2006 run the week after the last elections.

3. Great e-mail
Morrison nails it to Delay pretty good. It's good to see he's planning on challenging the Bugman again in '06; I think Delay will be much more vulnerable this time around.

4. Money is the issue. The repukes are swimming in it. They can put a
lying ad on the TV 24/7 about Morrison being a "librul" and get just about anybody elected. Sorry to say but I have seen it happen again and again. My friend says she could run her dog (Who would never run as a repuke, too much character. But this is an example.). Put an "R" on the ballot next to his name and he would win. That is how brainwashed these dummies are.

16. see my reply re: replacements ...
Senate seats are appointed by the Gov but Reps have to have a special election.

It's the People's House while the Senate was once elected by the state legislatures.

46. Money. The Repukes are Swimming In It. They Bought Voting Machines
THAT is what Richardson needs to point out. In fact, Texas had those touch-screen machines that switched Kerry votes to bush votes...Poof!.. right before your very eyes.

Delay and his fans KNOW this. THAT is what we have to fight!

He's been in there hustling ever since, and hasn't let up. I still get emails from his people. And I plan on staying connected. I want delay OUT. And I'm not even from Texas.

8. What's the law in Texas...
Regarding Recall Elections? Is DeLay's home district embarrassed enough by his actions yet to "call him home"? I'd love to see a redo of the election now, Morrison vs DeLay!

10. Almost certain that we do not have that ability. The problem is that if
DeLay goes now, Perry will get to appoint someone and then that person will gain name recognition and we will probably be back where we started.

The only way of selecting members from vacancies is through a Special Election.

Keep the money in the states for their use. Send staff to each state, staff of 4 by the end of 2005.

My wife and I donated to Morrison even though we live in Michigan. Every little bit helps, a lot of little bits add up to a lot.
Send Toxic Tom back underground where vermin like him belong.
Isn't there some way he could be charged and tried for his treason to America? Others have been charged for doing less damage to America.

30. Morrison can do it with our help!
General Clark also encouraged support of Morrison last year. I called the campaign office to get the address and the woman I spoke with was absolutely thrilled at the amount of donations they were getting from all over the country. She said it was the first time they felt that DeLay could be defeated. I think between Dean and Clark supporters we really made a difference. It's unfortunate but I guess whoever has the most money wins...

I guess I should add whoever controls the vote tabulators has a lot to do with who wins... But I'd imagine in state races it might be harder if it doesn't look like it's going to be close.

37. Our county chair is there for every vote, as well as the repuke's and
the county clerk is a Dem. She is very suspicious of BBV. We still black in the dots and then the ballots are machine processeded and then hand counted if it is close.

is having town hall meetings this Sat - see TX Forum. I may go the a.m. one, and another DUer may be at the p.m. one.

Meanwhile, there was talk today of Councilman Gordon Quan for DeLay's seat in 2006 - no way! Morrison is the man! So I sent Quan an email and told him to run against Culberson instead. Quan lives in our district (TX-7). :) Wouldn't that be the coolest?

40. I live in Houston, Texas
and as I recall, Delay thought he had the last election sewn up, and wasn't even going to appear for the series of debates that were scheduled between those running for his seat. Ha. Ha. Morrison was doing so well in the polls here that Delay actually had to come back and confront him in the debates, where Morrison did really well. Morrison also did really well in the election (a better performance than was expected against Delay); obviously not enough to overtake Delay, but still enough to cause a stir. I expect if Morrison runs again, which it sounds like he will, with the way the current situation is going, he will win handily! Also, he seems like an extremely intelligent, well-spoken, thoughtful individual. We need more like him...
