Papers Say Leak Probe Is Over

The special prosecutor investigating whether Bush administration officials illegally revealed the identity of a covert CIA operative says he finished his investigation months ago, except for questioning two reporters who have refused to testify.

The information in a March 22 court filing by special counsel Patrick J. Fitzgerald suggests that syndicated columnist Robert D. Novak, who first published the name of undercover CIA officer Valerie Plame, has already spoken to investigators about his sources for that report, according to legal experts. Novak, whose July 2003 column sparked the investigation, and his attorney have refused to comment on whether he was questioned.

Remember this started with a Lie, why would this Administration Stop now?

My take on the whole Article (Which I just read) is the Special Prosecutor is waiting for the final decision regarding the other reporters. The motion is to booster his claim that he needs to force the reporters to testify he filed this paper and now someone (CIA?) is claiming that paper shows that the Special Prosecutor has no case. It appears (again from the Article) that is NOT the case, the Prosecutor just wants to be able to use the Testimony of the two reporters AS WHO WAS LEAKING THE INFORMATION OF PLUME BEING A CIA AGENT. I suspect that the Prosecutor wants the leaker and would prefer to have as many witnesses as possible to be able to testify including both of the reporters.
