Wingnuts on CSpan - Re: Activist Judges
They all have messed up reasoning - but Mike Farris in particular - arguing that Supreme Court cases should only affect the party that the case is about. Arguing there should be no precedents, no case law, essentially.

He also said that abortion rights and gay marriage rights are false rights but people should have the right to a sane society. Yet they make it crazier every day.

Yeah, just where do some people get off thinking they should have some say so about their own lives. This is a threat to democracy we must eliminate. (/sarcasm off)

7. No crazier than anyone else
Who's crazier, people who think you actually have rights because it was written on a piece of paper a few hundred years ago, or people that think they can impose God's will on anyone they want because it was written on a piece of paper a few thousand years ago?

We're all part of the freak show. I love it. We're such a nihilistic species. I wish we would just be honest about it.

When you let go of all the myths that make life seem normal, it really helps to allow you to laugh. God, America, money, time, borders, the whole thing. You let go of all those, and it's very liberating. You can see what human civilization really is.

I say bring on the freaks. All we're good for is a laugh at ourselves. We want fairness. We want profits. We want rights. We want to control you by telling you at the age of 4 that if you don't believe in God he'll punish you. We want a clean environment. We more drugs because of the dirty environment. We want to sell you this piece of crap. We want everyone to have an education. We want war. We don't want war. Stop making bombs. We need more bombs for our national security. We believe in borders. We don't believe in borders because they might cut into the profits. The media are liberal. The media are RW. Labor! Business! Fascist! Hippy communist! Rumsfeld twisting answers into pretzels. People wanting to hold Rumsfeld "accountable". Wolfowitz, Bolton, and Khalilzad running the planet. People trying to stop them from running the planet.

No better form of entertainment.

8. They are definitely living in a different reality than I am.
Generally - one of the things I like about DU is that at least most of the people seem to be residing on the same planet - instead of an alternate universe where up is anchovies and black is evil, war is the best thing that can happen, joblessness is prosperity and so on and so forth.

9. I hope a lot of Americans see this
Because if they did I think it would scare them shitless. This is the American Taliban wing of the Republican party come to collect their payment for putting the Republicans in power. This is what we've been warning you about people. Take a good hard look.

10. I watched about ten minutes of it
and it completely freaked me out.

Those people make no bones about wanting to turn our country into
a theocracy. And they are hell bent on doing it.

They had a bunch of the young people there who demonstrating
across from Shiavo's hospice. It was the nuts with the tape across
their mouth with LIFE written on it. They give them a big hand.

It almost me sick.

12. Since they are not relying on case law & the precedents of the last 200+
years - what are the judges to base their opinions on - you might ask?

Herb Titus answers your question and it is...

you guessed it...

GOD.

God himself is to tell all the judges what their judgments should be.

So... there no reason to consider what any other judge might have decided in similar cases
( case law is how most of what lawyers do is justified and defended to the judge)
...all each judge needs is to know that he/she has been given "authority from God" to make the decision that they make - no matter what it is.

:argh:
