1. I think a good tandem poll for this would be "better/worse than Daschle"
He's better than Daschle, but we still seem disorganized and ineffective.

2. I think most feel he is better than Daschle
but I would like him viewed as his own man, not compared to someone else.

6. Just thought I'd throw it out there
In case Harry is watching the results come in and silently weeping in his office. :D

3. True
I didn't really know Daschle much though but I'm not too bad with Reid. I wish he was more vocal and organizing things.

7. That's how I voted -- compared him automatically to Daschle
in my head.

Reid's got spine. He's got that "it" thing that
Dean has.

I loved how he called Greenspan a hack. I can't
see soft-spoken Daschle tell it like it is like that.

Not a slam on Tom Daschle. He's a good leader for
peace time. We're at war with the Thugs. We need
somebody who will fight them.

I'm starting to think Reid's that person.

8. I'm with you
I do think Reid and Boxer play off one another well though so I can foresee a bit more unity in the future...picking her as his right hand person was brilliant.

4. Voted for Bush, for bankruptcy bill, for Condi, for Cheftoff, for Bodman,
and is anti-choice. How much worse could he be? Oh, that's right, he's a step above the Nelsons.

15. How do you know that he voted for Bush?
Hes he ever stated that publicly or is this just creative libel?

5. I'm quite impressed so far.
I think there's definitely room for improvement, but he's been far better than I thought he was going to be.

10. Just got the email from the DNC with his video clip. Outstanding.
If you hold press conferences and nobody comes, then you make your own outlet.

Don't see the video there yet. Just in the email.

11. With Frist poised to become a Democracy Terrorist --
-- by invoking the "nuclear option," I have more confidence with Reid in charge than I would have had with Daschle. The thing is, I always had the impression Daschle was half-hearted in his opposition to these radical extremists -- not saying that was the case, but appeared many times that it was.

12. I Am Liking . . . .
Harry Reid more and more as time goes on. OMG - he has a backbone!

My only problem with him is that he is anti-choice.

13. I 'd like him to have more success in holding the caucus together
He speaks loud, but in all important votes except for the budget final vote, he has not succeeded in having a party line vote (See Rice, Gonzales, Tort reform, Bankrupcy Bill).

So I am not sure he is better than Daschle at the end.

17. Sounds great...
but the dem votes (including Reid's) on the bankruptcy bill were reprehensible.

(I voted "fair", but he has the opportunity to move up in sadiesworld if he stands firm on SS :) )

18. how can anyone say he's done a good/great job
When the man voted for the new bankruptcy legislation? Is this leadership?

Dick Durbin would have been and still can be a much better choice to lead us.

19. I don't agree with him on some issues
Particularly that he's not pro-choice ...

But I like the way he's running the leadership. He's tough - and we need that just now.

20. Didn't expect much
so I am plesantly surprised. I say good job, could become excellent. Although he is pro-life his position is to create conditions that reduce the need for abortions - not to ban them.
