It must suck being a Congressional staffer
Now that the shit is starting to hit the fan for the repugs, we are going to get to see some really disgusting behavior.

Just this morning, Senator Mel Martinez of FL admitted that his office was the source of the Schiavo talking points memo. The very same memo that the Repugs tried to accuse the Dems of forging. So now all of a sudden, Martinez owns up. But how does he go about admitting his wrong doing. No problem, JUST BLAME IT on some lowly STAFFER. Of course, Mel has already fixed the problem by firing this poor sucker.

All I know is that if I worked for any of these dorks on the hill, I think I would make sure my resume was up to date.

2. I'm reserving my schadenfreude for something a bit more tangible.
Liberalism is still in a full-scale rout in the halls of Congress and in this nation. Considering the plethora of daily atrocities committed by the Reich-Wing, DeLay's stubbed toe is, as yet, wholly inconsequential. Do I hope political infection sets in and this political Reichsmonster succumbs? Sure. Reports of his imminent demise, however, are way too premature.

3. Damn straight . . .
I don't see any real dents in the Teflon yet -- remember these f*cks stole two or three national elections and got away with it.

Delay hasn't even worked up a sweat.

4. Ahh, how little ye knows....
You see, this is the way it goes on the Hill:

1) Shit hits fan
2) Staffer gets blamed
3) Staffer gets fired
4) Staffer immediately re-hired either by the same office or by another friendly office.

They might let the little guy take the fall, but the little guy never winds up without a job.

5. It was only after Tom Harkin called Martinez that Martinez 'fessed up.
Edited on Thu Apr-07-05 08:37 AM by TahitiNut
Martinez handed the memo to Harkin. Harken called him to remind him of that. Oops! Damage control. The Martinez staffer is Brian Darling, an attorney and legal counsel to Martinez.

The dishonesty is appalling.

6. He's no lowly staffer
He's the chief legal counsel to Martinez, and also a member of another GOP group run by former DeLay associate. Nothing lowly about him. Doesn't stop the PowerLine guys, though, from calling him an "unknown, anonymous staffer". And no doubt the MSM will swallow that line, too.

7. That's what NPR called him
They said a member of Martinez's staff had created the memo and that he had been fired. The Chief Legal Counsel creating the memo is a lot different then just some staffer, which is what they are trying to make it sound like.

It's a real shame how the WH Controlled Media does everything they can to cover for these bastards.
