The ultimate attack on the Democratic party by the media is happening.
Edited on Wed Apr-06-05 11:28 PM by madfloridian
They are dividing us by using a perfectly nice, well-done research study by the Pew research group. They took a poll from the study, and they sent it out across the media.

Now instead of reading the study, which is pretty interesting, people are going off their rockers about Howard Dean.

The study was about his supporters. It was done before Howard Dean ever ran for chair. It was done to study a movement in politics that was very new and unusual.

I don't want to post a link, but some are using this as a way to hurt Howard Dean in the position as chair. I saw a page tonight someone sent to me where some were actually questioning Dean's going to Arkansas this Friday and Saturday. He was being referred to as anti-other candidates. He needs to go to Arkansas, and that is very sad. I was stunned to read it.

The poll was worded to divide, but it was taken last year. Did the media tell you that? Anyway, we were no different than others. In the study, look at the 90% or more who supported and donated to Kerry.

I am embarrassed to read this forum tonight. I was embarrassed to read that page someone sent me. I am ashamed that what was actually a very good research and study has been used here to attack the chairman of the party. That is not just divisive, it is dangerous to the party.

He has made it clear he would never favor one candidate over the other. Anyone should know that by now.

Here is an example of how the media used a poll from within the study from last year to manipulate us here.

And there are two threads going on in this forum right now with people flipping out over last year's study. I won't post from the page I was sent. I just won't.

6. And here is how the poll is being used here to divide.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=1709023&mesg_id=1709023

Last year's study, last year's poll. Most of us are very much on board with anyone now, almost anyone.

We need to watch the media. I have tried to call attention all night that the poll was from the study from last year. No one paid any attention.

12. I don't care for the in-fighting myself.
When I saw that topic posted earlier today I passed over it without reading it. Those type of posts are divisive, petty, & counter-productive. It doesn't help the Democratic party at all.

There's still a lot of anger about this election & playing the childish blame game is nothing more than displaced anger.

8. Check out what this article says
"A poll of Howard Dean's online activists from his 2004 presidential campaign contains few surprises.

Two-thirds of them say they don't want Al Gore or John Kerry, the Democratic Party's nominees from 2000 and 2004, to run for president in 2008.

Their top choice is Dean, who's currently chairman of the Democratic National Committee."

Imagine that! Dean's online activists think Dean is a good candidate! Is that even worth reporting?

It'll take more than that to divide us. Besides, Gore, Kerry, Clark, Dean, and Satan are better than another Bush so we should unify well.

9. I am concerned at how it is being used here and at other Dem forums.
This is such an obvious media ploy, taking the poll out of context, an old poll. People fell for it though. It was fine for the time it was taken.

10. Yeah, it's obviously meant to divide
But at the end of the article it mentions the real key: "Most of the Dean activists supported and contributed money to Kerry after he became the Democratic nominee."

We had different ideas about who should win the primary, but all had the same idea about who shouldn't be president.
