Since no one will read the Pew Research I will post. Relates to poll.
Most of this was done during 2004, it was a study of the Dean Campaign and its activists. There will also be one coming out from Dartmouth.

Stop panicking over a poll made last year that the media is using to divide us.

1. Stop panicking over the silly poll from last year.
This is interesting research. Poll was done last year. This shows what we knew....that most of us are between 45 and 64.

2. Yes, and that most of us are college grads and fairly well-off.
I kept telling people that the media kept portraying us as a "movement of college kids" in order to steer people from the truth:

We are older, baby boomer activists with an education and with money. The Republican establishment doesn't like that one bit.

3. Dean activists' age
Edited on Wed Apr-06-05 06:41 PM by kenny blankenship
seems to be not really different from any group of Democrats selected at random.
What sticks out is the educational level of Deanies.

4. But everyone refers to his young activists.
Most of us knew better than that. I am an activist, but I ain't young anymore.

7. Because a lot of us signed up for it.
I am having trouble logging in at the site, so I need to try again. I think they upgraded and lost some stuff.

All I can say is, brilliant. This is a group of people I would like to know. How wonderful that such a huge majority are for gay marriage and keeping government out of our personal business.

10. I hear ya, mf. They use manipulated polls to foster division on the left.
The fockers have been pulling this crap for decades and so many still fall for their manipulations.

14. People will not even look at the Pew study,...they just react to the poll.
One site is even saying this proves Dean hates Clark. This is so out of control. This is about Dean supporters, not Dean himself.

You are right, the reaction here tonight is just unreal. A poll from over 4 months ago, and you would think it was today.

Dean isn't even going to run.

This makes no sense, really.

15. Study released today, poll from last year. Study from last year.
It is an excellent study for anyone who will take time to read it. The media pulled out one poll and used it to divide.

17. What is being said?
I saw one thing go by but now I can't find it. How are the media using it to divide? Is it the comparisons? If so, which items are they picking on the most?

Although I was and still am a Wes Clark supporter, Dean was my next favorite and during the campaign for Kerry I made some very good friends who were originally for Dean. Of all of the different groups I worked with here in Austin, I found the greatest commonality with Dean supporters.

I went to my precinct convention expecting young faces, orange caps hiding little horns--instead I found rational, educated not-so-young people with positions on the issues very close to my own. And of course we shared the experience of being active but fairly new grassroots types.

The only other primary candidate in Austin with a grassroots following was Kucinich, but his supporters were, well, not quite so rational as a group (no offense to those who were rational--they certainly do exist--but I'm talking about a group in one specific place, Austin--not individuals).
