1. He WAS snubbed...
bigtime. All the former Presidents should go if even one goes. It is a humiliation, imo.

9. Payback is hell.
He's been rather hard on Bush. Deservedly so, perhaps. But what can he expect.

14. You didn't
expect that, now did you? Why should you object when * acts just precisely the way you could have predicted?

And, besides, 'payback' is not just for junior high school, but for adult politicians, too. It's a major political weapon, in fact. Clinton was good at it. Reagan was good at it. LBJ was good at it. Wasn't it Kennedy who said, "Don't get mad; get even"? FDR was good at it, too. All adult men.

20. chronologically adult---but mentally, they're not
there are a lot of adults who have the mental/emotional limitations of junior high schoolers--and they never 'grow up', no matter how old they get.

I expect more out of them. You don't. Therein lies the difference.

25. You must always
be unpleasantly surprised by our 'leaders', and I don't just mean the current administration. Democrats, some of them, are as bad.

Carter had hoped to go as well, but backed off when told the Vatican had limited the official delegation to five “and there were also others who were eager to attend.

10. Carter was gracious about it ...
but he really deserved to go - especially since he had a pretty substantial relationship with the Pope.

5. It's complete bullshit that Condiliar is going and Carter isn't.
Any former President should have priority at an event like this. Ford would be on that plane, except his health obviously isn't permitting it. (His funeral will probably be soon enough)

Jimmy Carter was President when JP was elected Pope, and it was Carter who invited the Pope to the White House. Not Junior. Not Poppy. Not even Saint Ronnie himself. Carter deserves to be there, officially respresenting the US more than any of them.

7. Those lying graceless perverted thugs in the whitehouse
There should have been no question of Carter going. If they were so graceless and cloddish that they didn't think to call him and invite him they should have at least known to tell him "Of Course President Carter, we were about to call you".

Those disgusting republican pigs.

Carter has demonstrated in his actions for the last 25 years that he's got a far firmer grasp on Christian understanding than * and his ilk.

17. What is going on with the numbers?
I just responded to this poll at aprox 1:15pmCST, and the numbers are STILL

72% yes
28% no

There is another thread about this same poll over in GD, so a lot of us DUers have been voting, but NO change in the numbers. What gives? Is Diebold doing the counting?
