For instance:
BOSTON -- Prosecutors yesterday accused U.S. Ambassador to the Vatican Raymond L. Flynn of wrongfully using campaign funds, and indicted two aides from Mr. Flynn's days as mayor of Boston.
State Attorney General Scott Harshbarger said prosecutors were moving to sue Mr. Flynn for using campaign money for family trips, meals, entertainment and other personal expenses from 1988 to 1993.
Mr. Flynn also accepted thousands of dollars in cash contributions that never were recorded on campaign finance statements or deposited in committee bank accounts, Mr. Harshbarger said.
Mr. Flynn, in Rome, issued a statement saying he would repay any expenses that investigators deemed improper. He said he was in discussions with Mr. Harshbarger's office over a possible settlement to forestall the lawsuit.

The charges came amid a report that Mr. Flynn has told State Department officials he plans to resign as U.S. ambassador to the Vatican this month.
