TX: The Young Conservatives and the Racist Games They Play
http://www.ntimc.org/newswire.php?story_id=2219&PHPSESSID=ec14a3da727d0ec4206a55773bbe200f

Yesterday, at the Tarrant County Community College, the Young Conservatives of Texas (YCT) were supposed to put on a game called the "Illegal Immigrant Hunt" This game was supposed to be composed of a t-shirt that said "Illegal Immigrant", and a bunch of fake badges given out to participants to give them the feeling that they were Border Patrol agents.

The YCT had advertised this game to take place in the morning, and were not expecting to be met and shut down by the colorful resistance of OLAS and the North Texas Anti-Racist Action. Nathan Lansford, the self-described leader of the Tarrant County chapter of the YCT seemed surprised to here chants such as "Nazi's closed down borders too, YCT are Hitler Youth" and "We don't need your fascist orders, human beings transcend borders" that were coupled with drums, Latino music, and indigenous styled artwork.

He said that the hunt was not an attack against Hispanics, but that it was specific to Canadian immigrants. Unfortunately, the Denton chapter of the YCT had put on the exact same hunt, and their press release stated that because the borders of Texas were under attack from illegal immigrants, they were using this game as a way to educate people about the problems with border security. The Austin chapter attempted to do the same and had a press release with the same information, so it is pretty safe to assume that the Tarrant County Chapter had the same idea.

We, as a community told the YCT that their hate speech was not wanted, and that we would not allow it to go unchecked. The YCT knows that if they attempt anything like that again, that we will show up and shut it down. YCT now understands the meaning of “Ya Basta!”
