Others are quick to try & wrangle them in and there may be a danger of the thread shutting down as did a previous one....
http://www.lucianne.com/threads22.asp?artnum=206418"Bush said Thursday that he joins the millions of Americans saddened by the death of Terri Schiavo and urged the country to honor her memory by working to "build a culture of life." "The essence of civilization is that the strong have a duty to protect the weak," Bush said. "In cases where there are serious doubts and questions, the presumption should be in favor of life." "

Easy to say now that she is gone.

Yeah, now his little brother can go on pretending he did something.

I am saddened. I am also VERY ANGRY about this whole thing and will be for a long time.

I feel your pain...... ya, right.... they are all alike.

I don't blame President Bush OR his brother. This 15 year struggle could have been a lot less stressful had a suitable court advocate been appointed for Terri so she could divorce that bum she was married to. If you want to point a finger, point it at him.
I plan to continue to support President Bush and his conservative judicial appointments. Activist judges ran rampant all over Terri's rights, as a human being.

Empty words, Mr. President. Your obvious ignorance of our Constitution has truly undone you, this time. You failed her and you failed us.
You could have and should have acted.

Neither Bush had any constitutional authority to do anything. We live in a democracy, not a dictatorship. I would have turned against either Bush--just like I turned against Clinton in the Elian Gonzalez affair--if they had ignored the rulings of the courts, no matter how wrong those rulings are. It was up to the Florida legislature to change the law if they disagreed with Judge Greer. They failed to do so, much to their disgrace. It wasn't up to Jeb Bush, however, to usurp their authority.

Once again, the blame and SHAME is on the FloriDUH court "system", not the Federal courts. I wish it wasn't so.

Yes, let's not lose sight of the fact that this whole situation began to play itself out in the NINETIES. And we all know how much wrong was done in that era. This one just flowed over.
What our President said, is right.

Bush says Schiavo's death saddens millions....without even taking a breath, it was right back to 9/11 and terrorism and weapons of mass destruction and intelligence and heaping praise on John McCain. All in the same press conference. So inappropriate and impersonal. The latter matters could have waited another day.

President Bush, in his compassion, spoke for our family too as he expressed condolences to Terri's family and of the need to, 'build a culture of life,' again.
God bless President Bush.
Shame on the culture of death which seems to have its shameless grip on our now Politically Correct Judiciary! What have they wrought?!

George, you woke up in the middle of the night and heard someone rummaging around in the living room. Then you lay there with the covers up around your neck, trying to convince yourself that it was all just your imagination.

Remember our President is NOT the enemy, turn your frustrations to those who did nothing at all. What are you going to do, VOTE Democrat to send a message????

I won't, #13. But I'll still call a spade a spade.

I still support our President, but I have lost some respect for him over this case.

President Bush went out on a constitutional limb for Terri Schiavo...and, in doing so, he may have jeopardized his brother's chances for a national election as well. I'm sure they talked it over. They both acted from the heart.
We all hurt over Terri's death.

It was a gracious tribute. If you cannot accept it as such there is definitely something wrong with you.

Amen #17.
George Bush couldn't send in the military and Jeb, afater Greer's anticipatory court order couldn't take custody without a bloodbath, as the police had to obey the cold-blooded judge.
Place the blame where it belongs or next step up to blame is the Pope or G-d.

The saddest part of it all is that Terri Schiavo's suffering and ultimate death has been turned into a platform from which people chose to focus on everyone BUT Terri Schiavo.
There's no telling how many people suffer from what Terri endured all over the country today who quietly have their feeding tubes pulled. But, I can guarantee you, there are more than just Terri Schiavo.
And, odds are, if Terri had lived in Wyoming, there's very little chance that any of us would have ever heard her name.
Cry for the living.
