Anyone notice Jesse Jackson everywhere trying to
Edited on Thu Mar-31-05 01:09 PM by saracat
use this as a platform for long term healthcare, Medicare and Medicaid? I think he threw in Social Security as well. I applaud him for trying, but I still think the use of him by Randall and the Right was not a good thing. I think he is doing damage control and I hope it works! At least he pointed out that those social programs paid for her care. The nutjobs are arguing that this is about preparing to meet your maker while Jesse talks about health care and living wills. They are also saying what a disgrace it is that the judicial system has power over the President and Governor!

1. I love Jesse, and I am comforted to hear him on the news today...
He is a pastor to the country, despite his human warts. He even called for the possibility of common ground for the families, difficult, I know, but he did it. And he is raising all the positives that can be raised out of this troubled, crazy situation.

Bless him. He sure can quote scripture with the tone required--puts all the fundies to shame.

3. It is not necessary for Jackson to attack the judges who are required
to make these very painful and difficult decisions by adhering to applicable law--laws passed by these same legislative bodies who are attacking the judiciary as out of control. Families make these difficult decisions every day to end a loved one's life by removal of life support, including feeding tubes.

Already, James Dobson, Focus on the Family, and Senator Sam Brownback, Kansas, have started attacking the judiciary--Dobson mentioned Judge Greer by name--and pointing to recent judicial decisions regarding gay marriage and tying Terri Schiavo's to the "culture of life"--code for pro-life--except for the death penalty, of course.

Why would Jackson want to align himself with the likes of Dobson and Brownback. They are not interested in universal health care, and Jackson must surely know that.
