On hearing of Terri Schiavo's death, my supervisor at work uttered the above comment about Michael Schiavo. Such a humane response. :sarcasm:

I work with mostly RWers. Have yet to hear anything like that about Mr. Schaivo from them.

I suspect the people who honestly believed Chimpy when he said "we should err on the side of life" a few days back is a piss-poor minority. From such tiny crumbs, I gain sustanance and hope for my fellow man.

The silence was defeaning when my supervisor made her comment in the presence of two of us. What are we to say to such a pronouncement?

By the way, the march of unintended irony continued with Bush's comments to the press following Terri Schiavo's death. He talked about the duty of the strong to protect the weak, about creating a culture of life in America where all Americans are welcomed, valued and protected. It's funny how he forgets these things when it's time to finance the COPS program (something he's been trying to zero out for years), do a single thing about chemical and nuclear security (apparently a nightmare situation in this country, thanks in part to CSX's hesitation to implement a security plan), provide affordable health care or housing, or start wars with flawed intelligence (both his and the CIA's). He can cry crocodile tears over Mrs. Schiavo till the cows come home, but he doesn't give a rat's rear end about a GI, a firefighter, a cop, or an uninsured worker.
