Lots of hiding, spinning, and finger-pointing going on--and on and on.

Finger-pointing begins over failure to prolong Schiavo's life

By Frank Davies

Knight Ridder Newspapers

WASHINGTON - Efforts in Congress and the courts to prolong Terri Schiavo's life failed because of political miscalculations, missed deadlines and misguided legal strategy, according to legal experts and some of the conservative activists who made the case a national issue.

That harsh assessment is causing recriminations and finger-pointing among social conservatives and Republican staffers on Capitol Hill, who say there's plenty of blame to go around for why efforts to reverse state court rulings fell short.

Ken Connor, the former head of the conservative Family Research Council who gave legal advice to Florida Gov. Jeb Bush as the case was moving through the courts there two years ago, said Congress' inability to agree on a bill to keep Schiavo alive before her feeding tube was removed March 18 "severely prejudiced Terri's case."

Republican leaders in the House of Representatives took credit for getting a bill passed two days later, "but that's like an arsonist claiming credit for putting out his own fire," said Connor, who worked for weeks on the Schiavo legislation. "They should have acted with more dispatch.",,,,,,,,

1. and what the hell is Congress even doing, passing a "law"
that applies to one citizen? I wish these people would just choke to death on their own bile.

2. How come no one is pointing their finger at
Terri Schiavo, whose desire to not live in her present condition went and fouled up the conservative activist's plans?

5. I wish these people would all just drop off the radar and go home
but I know that is not going to happen. Some wingnutt attorney is going to milk the poor victimized Shindlers for all they've got to stick this ugly personal family drama back in our faces again. I just know it. Nutts is as nutts does.

6. Don't cry for the Shindlers ... they love the attention.
The Mother can't bring herself to sit by Terri's bedside while she fades out, but she CAN berate the Schiavo Family (all by name!) at every damn opportunity.

She's a real piece of work. Terri's parents were overwhelmed when this first happened and it was Michael Schiavo who aggressively sought treatment for his wife.

But NOW, it's *all about the Shindlers* and their grief. Michael Schiavo's far from a saint, but after all the flat-out distortions and lies the Shindler's have spread on the Corporate Media (especially FOX cable news) I hope he sues these nasty people into the poor house.

Again, the mother can't be by her daughter but well, the cameras comfort her. Go figure?

9. Does anyone point the finger at God?
Does any so-called "Christain" think God has any role to play in this fiasco made by man? If not, are they admitting that God is subject to their will and not the other way around? Is it or is it not that God has ordained death just as he has ordained life? It is really "murder" to let nature (or God) take its course?
