National Guard: "Get even with Iraq for what they did to us on 9/11!!!"
These ads aren't quite that blatant, but almost.

Below are excerpts from some of the webpages on the US National Guard's recruiting site. The language that is used in the ads VERY STRONGLY implies that Iraq carried out 9/11. Even the graphic for "Defend Your Freedom" (supposedly about domestic service) shows the smoldering Pentagon on 9/11.

Elsewhere, the site describes the joys of speeding around in a tank and "squeezing off rounds from an M-16"-- presumably at some of those "rag-heads" that bombed America on 9/11.

Are you ready to join?

FIGHT TERRORISM

A dark shadow was thrown across our country on 9/11. Since that time we have been at war. Our proud Armed Forces have taken the fight to the hideouts of our cowardly enemies. As a member of the Army National Guard, you will be a critical part of the war on terrorism.

The Guard doesn’t just protect the home front. Guard members are on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan, supporting regular Army forces and engaging the enemy directly. In today’s Guard every soldier is first and foremost a warrior. If you think you have what it takes to be a member of this elite fighting force, contact a Guard counselor today.

DEFEND YOUR FREEDOM

The battle lines to defend our nation are no longer just in far off lands. We are threatened from within our own borders. The Army National Guard is the first line of defense here at home. As a member of the Guard, you will keep your friends and family safe. You will thwart the evil that seeks to destroy our nation. If you’re ready to join the elite team of warriors that is the Army National Guard, then contact a counselor today.

1. Ha! "Immersing yourself in the culture"
more like "destroying the culture". I just BET all those NG Iraq callups are learning "raghead Arabic" and studying Mesopotamian Civilization in their spare time.

3. thre is more
The Guard is S'posed to stay stateside, that was a selling point

This reeks of desperation and slight ilegality, troops have to be federalized, before they can be sent to meet new and interesting people and then kill them...

11. immersion
Our troops are so hated and/or feared in many parts of Iraq that any efforts on the part of National Guard members to "immerse" themselves in Iraq's culture would probably end on day one-- with gunfire.

PNAC made it very clear where we are to go next - to Iran via the draft. There are a lot of PNAC puppets in DC.

Edited on Thu Mar-31-05 01:25 AM by Carolab
I watched today as a young amputee at Walter Reed made a statement about 9/11 and Iraq all in the same breath: "People forget they flew planes into the WTC, and they want to kill all Americans. They hate us for our freedom, our music (I'm not kidding), etc. etc. etc." He wrapped it up by saying that by fighting/killing Iraqis he was giving them a choice to live their life in freedom and democracy. Now, you tell me, just how convoluted is that?

8. My version
Aren't you tired of having all 4 Limbs & a fully functioning brain.

Would you love to try the adrenaline rush that comes from blowing humans to bits or looking down after an IED detonates to see your legs are gone.

Why ask why when we can use you up and spit you out.

Relax & let us do the thinking.

You may not be the Army we want but you're the one we need.

10. These ads make no sense.
If a person wants to "squeeze off rounds from an M-16" and "engage the enemy directly" isn't he going to join the regular Army?

The sad truth is that the chimp has effectively destroyed the concept of the weekend warrior who fulfills his service stateside. Now the NG is just another definition of cannon fodder.

13. Freedom isn't free
Some more 9/11 references on the National Guard site. Check out the short film on "Operation Iraqi Freedom." Then grab yer M-16.

The freedoms that all Americans enjoy were bought with the blood, sweat and lives of citizens who heard the call, Strong, brave individuals who have placed our collective good over their personal safety. These videos serve to remind us of the sacrifices of those who came before and those who still serve.

New Edition Too !!! Are kids really this stupid to believe going to War would be just like a video game? Or does the guard not give them any credit for having any common sense?

But then I remembered video games have been condemned by Hillary Clinton as a "major threat to morality."

So, never mind, join the National Guard instead. :eyes:

26. Kill 'em all as fast as you can..... Rated "T" for "Teen"
or maybe for "Testosterone."

http://www.1800goguard.com/game/game.html#

Here's the web-site's battle scenario meant to draw the visitor into the "game." Lots of good land-mine layin', "shoot-em-in-the-back" fun for the whole family!

HQ: “We’re anticipating an assault on the left flank. Can’t spare the armor to push them back. Get a Combat Engineer up there to lay down some mines on the near side of the north bridge- we just need to slow them down.”

Armor Group 1: “Sir, we’ve overwhelmed their main attack force. They are in retreat. Shall we pursue?”

HQ: “Negative AG1, return to base to re-entrench. Apaches will engage the fleeing forces to keep them from regrouping”

Mobile Artillery 1: “Sir, artillery is in position. Ranging shots delivered. We have them bracketed”

HQ: “Fire for effect!”

Now you can step into the role of commanding officer of a combat group. You decide which personnel and vehicles will be deployed. You coordinate troop movements and call in airstrikes. Fast thinking and quick reaction to the ever changing battlefield situation are your best chance for victory.

can all be found in freeperville from time to time.

His rim job made a link from freeperville to the NG web site so the freepers can sign up to squeeze off M-16 rounds at those who caused 9/11? So the freepers can drive around in big tanks to the hideouts of our enemies? Or so the freepers can keep our families safe?

Lock and load eh freeps?

Let's go freepers, here's your chance to put your butts on the line like you want others to do.

Here's the link if you don't already have it.

http://www.1800goguard.com/adventure/adventure_missions...

I'd post it in freeperville but I'd probably get bounced for doing it.

You just have to pump them full of shit like this.

All they need is a little Gulf of Tonkin action.

Just like the cowardice German population of WWII, the last people they will ever question would be in high Politics.

25. Between Fox News, Right-wing radio
and this kind of crap in military recruiting literature, it's no wonder that the kids join up. They think that they will actually be doing something for America when they ship out to Iraq and put their lives on the line.

If I were a patriotic and somewhat gullible teenager, I don't know if I would see through all this stuff for the propaganda that it is.

Sad.

22. If this is how they advertise for the Guard I wonder how they do it for
the Army..The National Guard is supposed to stay at home and protect their home front against things like fire or earthquake or riots, not go off to a foreign land to fight a suspect war for the enrichment of the GOP. I somehow think they won't do so well. kind of like the Democratic party. It isn't supposed to be a copy of the Republican Party just as the National Guard is not supposed to be the US Army. If that is what people want to do why would they join the Guard instead of the Army or Marines? Just like voting. If people want republican ideas why would they vote Democratic?
