Why hasn't Bush done the whole terrorism thing yet?
Edited on Thu Mar-31-05 01:06 AM by Heaven and Earth
Normally, he will start the whole "Terrorists are hiding in your sock drawer" routine for much less than the horror the GOP has experienced recently. This time, nothing, as far as I have heard.

My hypothesis is that there is no need to do it now that he has won the election. Perhaps in his mind, the ultimate goal was to outdo daddy and be reelected where Bush I could not. Now that he has done that, maybe the drive and the focus are gone.

What do you all think?

1. You hit it on the head.
He's not running for re-election and has said he will retire from public life after the presidency, so why should he care about any of that?

Approval numbers? :eyes:

"Screw all of that nonsense. I'm going back to my ranch in Crawford, Texas after I'm done running this country into the ground like every business I ever ran..."

2. He's saving it up
Most likely will use it in September '06, prior to the mid term elections. He may want to retire, but he doesn't want to lose his majority. Also, keep in mind that he's no calling the shots anyhow.

4. I think you're right
to the extent that he's been re elected, so he can fuck us all he wants to for the next four years. No election looming, so no need for terror alerts 14 times a day. I find myself speculating about what they did with Osama bin Forgotten, since he made his last (entirely coincidental) appearance right before the election. Hmmmmm -maybe, as a poster said an another thread, "Osama is the gift that keeps on giving".

7. One problem there,
bush did not win the election. In fact it seems that Kerry actually won by 7 million votes. I also think another attack is coming soon. bush needs an excuse to drum up support for the forthcoming draft.

8. Good hypothesis
except for the little bit about 'focus'. Focus is a foreign concept to the Shrub--that's what he has the little people around him for.

10. We should still be afraid. They want perpetual war.
Iran is next. The only reason I can come up with that The Next Attack has not yet transpired is that his approval rating is just a wee bit too low. But even that doesn't make sense. I don't know why it hasn't happened at this point--I was shocked enough that we got through the election without an incident, let alone a full-on revocation of civil liberties under marshall law. I wake up everyday surprised the world is mostly still here.

12. They're working on it -
Edited on Fri Apr-01-05 08:21 PM by libhill
I got a memo at work the other day (I work at a hospital) that at two undisclosed hospitals, one west coast, one east coast, some people were confronted who had been poking around asking questions about the layout and security of each facility. They fled when questioned - but they don't sound to me, like ordinary citizens looking for Uncle Dan's room. And, curiously, no description was given as to how they looked. Seems like if they were "Middle Easterners" that would have come out. More Black Ops boys, planning the next 911? Hmmmm-

We're beefing up Security, parly due to these memos, partly due to some other factors. At least it's a start.
