Tell your congress & Senators you'll never vote again
unless they pass legislation that would rid this country of every black box voting machine.

it's just a thought/idea--our representatives need to take this seriously--they didn't do it for 2004 and maybe they need some incentive--knowing we won't be voting again.

if your state didn't use black boxes then write the reps anyway to push for federal/across the board legislation.

what do you think? good idea? anything to get the black boxes banned?

1. I don't know.
It seems to me that most of our reps would welcome that,

2. that's okay. maybe if we push the issue then they will
push the issue.

they seem to be "going along" with the republican flow and they need to take this basic stand--if you think about it, if they don't "bother" fighting for paper trails then why *would* we vote again because just more republicans will get in office anyway.

don't you think it's a good beginning? to start writing them, let them know we're thinking about it and they better start thinking about it too.

i don't know. the idea just came to me--i haven't thought it through too much--but i've always been a fan of "writing my representatives".

10. Seabeyond makes a good point.
If your reps are gop (as are mine)... I don't think it'll work.

In situations like mine, it might be better to work at the grassroots level to get a dem elected.

But I like your idea of putting pressure on other dem reps (or dem leadership).

A letter to most rep from people not in their district isn't usually read or responded to. I'll just find an address I can "borrow" through the USPS zip code finder so at least an aide would open it. O8)

4. all of them? not just your senators, but everybody?
then write mine. write howard dean! write nancy pelosi, (and hilary if we think she might run--anyone who might run in 2008). write all the representatives in your state and don't sign your town--just the state on your letter.

7. Civil disobedience. Sit ins on election day; no voting until
we get paper ballots. Or bring our own, and demand that they be counted.

8. anything that draws attention to this sham is worthwhile. I tell everyone
who calls looking for money...NARAL, SIERRA, DNC, Interfaith Alliance, etc. that I am not giving any more money until they all ban together and educate the public about these machines and who owns them, secret software etc.

I stress that all of these organizations working to make this country better, have millions of people in there data bases. They need to incorporate voting education into their literature. And until they do...I'm not wasting my money anymore.

collect millions to fight for pro environment, pro woman, pro workers, pro heath care legislation....for what?...does no good if we don't have real elections.

I think if enough people do this....they'll get the message... and in turn...get the message out.

9. That's a great idea. I get solicitations for donations about a dozen times
a day. If there is a space to comment on the websites they link me to I'm going to make the request that they address this issue seriously before I donate another cent. Of course it'll help if everybody does the same thing. I think some are getting it, but like Barbara Boxer said, she needed to get proof in writing that this is what her constituents and fellow citizens wanted when she protested the Ohio elector certification in the Congress. She got 20,000 phone calls in one day.

I say we all write to the office of our individual Secretary of States for starters. Put them on warning.
