Poll question: Is 'Jeb for President' ruined because of Shiavo?
This Shiavo thing has not been popular. Could this de-rail the Jeb for president express that I had been expecting to come around the bend any time now? If this was his campaign kickoff it was a real fiasco.

1. I seriously doubt he could have even won the GOP vote in 2008
I think they would not want to have another Bush in office so soon

2. where's the GOP steals elections so he doesn't have to worry choice?
Popular sentiment is irrelevant. We believe what they say we believe.

3. This ought to hurt Jeb
However, you can't count him out as long as his allies will be counting the votes.

4. He wouldn't have won anyway
I don't think the American people want to see a true dynasty. Not even NASCAR land.

5. Bingo
HW managed to appear moderate and didn't polarize people as much, but W has pissed off half the country. I don't think Americans want a dynasty, especially with someone from the same family as the most polarizing President ever.

GOV Jeb Bush will end any aspirations he may harbor towards the presidency if he does not take charge of this situation. How can he be expected to deal with despots, dictators and terrorists on the world stage if he can not deal with a blind, power-mad swamp rat judge in Florida!?!It's called BALANCE of powers for a reason. First indict Felos and Greer with charges of fraud, charge Schiavo with malfeasance as a guardian, then go in and take Terri. I pity the poor policemen on watch outside the hospice who must hate what they are doing but would follow the governor in a heartbeat if he were to take action. I'm not holding my breath.

12. Heh.
I didn't realize balance of powers meant that an elected official could do anything he wanted, without repercussions. They must be working out of a different dictionary than I am. Helps explain their continued support of Dubya, though.

14. ArmyTeach will vote Republican in 2008
Edited on Thu Mar-24-05 12:26 PM by Jack Rabbit
He's certainly not going to vote for Hillary Clinton or Russ Feingold.

If Jeb gets the nomination, ArmyTeach will cheerfully ring doorbells for him.

When they calm down, they'll realize that they lost this fight for one very simple reason: right or wrong, the law is on Michael Schiavo's side.

15. Depends on whether the voting machines are rigged or not.
Considering this, the druggie daughter and wife who "forgets" to pay Customs fees, he wouldn't have seemed like a front runner anyway. But, then again, who owns the voting machine companies?

16. Shiavo is a diversion
like many other diversions that the "administration" brought to the forefront when they didn't want the media looking too close at what they are doing.

I am sympathetic to all the family and friends. There are difficult decisions being made and no one will come out of this a "winner" whatever the final outcome. However, it is their issue, not the Congress or the Supreme Courts. We DO NOT need the government "micro-managing" our lives!

I'm sure that in their "state of grace", they didn't expect public opinion to turn against their stand on this issue.

While this "issue" has eaten up air time and occupied front pages we do not get the real news. At least the majority of the public doesn't.

Where is the NEWS? What is happening to SS? How about Delay? Iraq? The "oil shortage"? The myriad of other news items that we NEED to know? These are the issues that should be headlined!

It's time to "poke the media in the eye with a sharp stick" and get them back on track.

He thinks this will appeal to the majority of the religious right base and he believes that is the key to winning the Repub candidacy.

19. Don't count on it.
These same people turned Kerry's acts of heroism in Vietnam 180 degrees into crimes amounting to treason.

Don't assume anything and watch out. That's all I have to say.

20. What, you think there's really going to be an election?
With the machines rigged, they can get a "repeal the presidential term limits" issue on the ballot for 2006 in every state, and get enough to make the repeal stick . . .

21. How Could it possibly Hurt him at all?
Most people (Republicans) want the feeding tube reinserted, if anything this is helping Jeb because hes trying to play hero and "save this womans life"

Or is it just me that thinks most of the people want the tub reinserted?

23. It's just you, I think
I only know of one person that wants the feeding tube re-inserted and I know alot of repubs that voted for bush. It's not JUST fundies and partisan hacks that want it re-inserted but I think it's close. btw- alot - maybe over half - of religious people think she should go to heaven because 'God is calling her'. You've seen the polls, anywhere from 70-80 percent oppose the GOP's efforts on this one and I believe that to be accurate from what I have seen and heard.

24. it helps in a Republican Primary that's why Frist got in on it also
the Republican Primary voters tend to be made up mostly of right wing extremist types. but another source of important support is in terms of money they give to the candidate and the groundwork they do for them to help get out the votes for them.

Schiavo or not, by the time 2008 rolls around his family name won't be worth a bucket of shit. More likely he'll sit this one out and pin his hopes on 2012.
