"Absolute power corrupts absolutely."
I think that we are watching this unfold before our very eyes, and the humbling realization is that there is not a damn thing that any one of us could have done to begin this process. The GOP had to do it to themselves, and thankfully it is happening way more quickly and with much more grandeur than I thought it would.

2. Well, hopefully we won't all forget about this in 2006

Maybe for ONCE in my lifetime, I will see an election where people know exactly who they are voting for. The dems had better rub the republicans hypocritical faces in this for the next decade.

3. It's even worse when they were already corrupt before they got the
power.

5. Power corrupts everyone, including Democrats
If you want to remember the mistake the Republicans committed with this Schiavo case, then you should and must remember the Democrats who voted for the bankruptcy bill and sold out the American people. You should remember the Democrats who vote for free trade and for allowing American interests to be off-shored and bought up by foreign entities. You should remember them for when the day comes when you or your kids wake up as debt slaves in the land your forefathers once owned.

This is a shameful issue for both parties to varying degrees. It has always been my belief that the federal government has taken in too much power, and as a result, that power is now a threat to our freedoms.

6. Agreed...
I haven't been more disgusted with the general nature of American Politics in a long time. It is so clear that each and every Republican in the Senate and most in the house is a slave to the corporation. What disappoints and especially disgusts me is that there have been a non-negligible amount of Democrats who have been complicit in legislation like the Bankruptcy Bill.

What is going to be the end of the Republican majority, though, is their absolute power. As the Democrats were the party in power in 1994, the Republicans are now, and right or wrong, it is the GOP that is going to fall hard, and probably in 2006.

All this being said, it is going to take our diligence and work to "remind" voters of this...
