I always thought the right wing talibush was overstated as a rethug base
and that * won the last election, narrowly, because people were just not comfortable switching POTUS during a war. And now my assumtions have been proven. The poll numbers on this Schiavo case are overwhelmingly bad for the rethugs, which tells me that most folks are middle of the road, leaning left. The rightie freakshow is the last gasp of "traditionalists" and they're dying on the vine.

Three cheers for the idiot repub politicians who saw fit to stick their bum bums where they did not belong...In a hospice facility in Florida.

4. Well, I remember when

they tried to use this issue during the election, despite the fact that the US changed president during WWII, the supposed defining moment in American military history.

And I was wondering if anyone really bought it at the time, during the election.

5. Well, you can;t use the WWII example to argue this point
FDR died in office. His successor was Harry S. Truman, from his Party and his VP.

Apples and Oranges.

FDR wasn't beaten in an election for President by anybody from the opposition party nopr his own.

Apples and Oranges.

8. Erm... shit.
Got me there.

And I suppose they could argue that changing POTUS during Vietnam was the only thing that caused that otherwise awe-inspiringly successful military adventure to fail.

10. Well, LBJ voluntarily opted out of re-election
And the Busheviks can clearly argue ANYTHING, facts, logic, etc. have so little to do with it.

6. I hope you're right, but I don't think so.
The polls I've seen indicate that roughly 40% of the electorate consider themselves "evangelical Christians," and while some evangelicals are liberal, the majority seem to follow their leaders, like Dobson and Falwell.

9. yeah but *'s term will be up in 2008...
as to switching during a war - I've heard this directly from fence sitters, moderate rethugs, and independants...they were thinking it would create too much chaos to switch mid-stream.

As to the 40% evangelicals...a-mare-cans are just not church goers by and large, outside of the "base"...they go every once in a while and hold mostly moderate views. 2008 will of course be a true test of my theories as the switching mid stream view will be a non issue. The best part is that there is NO WAY the rethugs are going to throw up a moderate candidate, but if the dems do, a la Clinton, we will win.

From my fingertips to god's ears anyways.

11. Hoping they keep Randall Terry front and center!
And wondering how soon Jerry, Pat, and Oral will be up for face time.
