On C-SPAN 2, ACLU joins Bob Barr, Paul Weyrich, Grover Norquist
and other conservatives to criticize the Patriot Act, or parts of it, as in violation of civil liberties. It's rather strange to see them on the same side. Perhaps the Democratic Party should join these "conservatives" on this issue since most Democrats see fault with the Patriot Act, I think? Or do most of them agree with Bush on the Patriot Act? It seems like an ideal coalition to put pressure on the radicals in the White House?

2. Their group is called:
"Patriots to Restore Checks & Balances"

I find it interesting that a group of prominent conservatives has banded together to challenge certain provisions of the Patriot Act.

Too bad the only liberal I see is Laura Murphy of the ACLU.

when it affects them personally.

Don't let the fact that we agree with these pigs on a single issue cloud your judgment. These are people who think that Bush, Cheney, DeLay, et al are just dandy people. I forget who said it, but it was something to the effect that if you lie down with dogs, you're going to get fleas.

4. Nope. Would you join forces with snakes and think there is no agenda
hiding in the wings?

If you let a bully come in your front yard, he'll be on your porch the next day and the day after that he'll rape your wife in your own bed.

If push comes to shove, even if they are well intentioned, can these leopards change their spots? No. More importantly they have never wanted to play fair before, now they want to? WHy? Their patterns have shown they want to conquer and take over everything they come in contact with. How is the ACLU any different? They are all of a sudden having a civil liberties awakening?

Its the scorpion and turtle story.

People can speak and influence and can be quite charming. Hitler and Mussolini could be as well.

9. Damned straight they SHOULD...but will they?
Edited on Tue Mar-22-05 06:28 PM by Al-CIAda
Damn I wished there was an opposition party.

edit- it isn't about 'joining', but standing up for what is right. If they (Barr & co.) agree, fine. It puts all the more pressure on the ruling fascists.
