I can see Congress hauling woman in and hooking up ultrasound machines to get some photos of the "living baby".

The repubs have no shame. Let Bush rush to Iraq for the thousands he is responsible for killing.

1. Most women who have abortions don't give a damn
WHAT the thing looks like. They just want it GONE.

I'm sorry, all you folks who sentimentalize maternity to the point of utter nausea, but women who abort are doing so because they don't want to risk their lives on somebody else's baby, which is what the alternative of closed adoption means. They don't want to condemn themselves to a life of grinding, miserable poverty, which is what bearing a kid out of wedlock and raising it generally means. They don't want the slavery of an unwanted, forced marriage to the kind of man who tried to abandon a pregnant partner. They don't want another kid growing up wondering what's wrong with him or her because they weren't really wanted in the first place.

Women who abort are defending their lives against all of this.

The right and a lot of leftist men still don't get it.

2. Very true.
In addition, some pro-choice women, such as myself, don't regard a cluster of cells in the first trimester as a "baby" or a "person." Religion often influences one's perception on this issue.

3. I'm sure with time they'll pull everything they can.
These are people who don't respect the rights of women.

While my personal opinion is that those who chose to use abortions as convient forms of birth control are performing a disservice to themselves when there are less invasive methods including a saying 'no ding-ding without a rubber ring' AKA Demanding a condom, wearing the female versions or taking the pill or having the depo shot.

This being said.

It is her body to do with as she chooses, better or worse.

It is my body to abuce as I please and endanger however I want as well.

It is not the property of the US Government and never will be so long as I live as I will kill myself and anyone trying to enslave me before I become a slave to the government.

4. Abortion is not used as birth control
It's used when birth control FAILS, or when a male refuses to wear a condom, or when a woman is forced into sex she really doesn't want through fear of abandonment and hasn't protected herself in advance.

Nobody gets an abortion every month instead of taking the pill. It just doesn't happen. It's surgery, it's expensive and painful.

I'm sorry some men are ignorant enough to think frequent abortion occurs. It makes the lives of women fighting for their rights much harder.

6. Actually, some abortions are used as a form of bith control ...
Not frequently, perhaps, but abortion is a form of birth control. Why all the discussion about circumstances of conception and the reasons for choosing an abortion?

12. How a society treats women...
...is one of the greatest indicators of its level of enlightenment.

Women are not livestock and no one has the right to force any
woman to reproduce against her will.

I am a man but this is an issue I care about a great deal. Until
everyone in society is given full control over their bodies and
their lives we will languish in ignorance and backwardness.

TJ

5. This being said...
You know, I appreciate that you are pro-choice. So am I - on demand, I don't care how the pregnancy came to be or why the abortion is requested. I won't make the kind of pre-judging, self-righteous assumptions you just made prior to the phrase, "That being said..." That's ignorant.

And please, don't kill yourself. We're already "enslaved" is some ways by the corporate and un-democratic government. Keep thinking and acting and fighting. Live as responsibly as you can. And if some day you find that you need an abortion, for whatever reason, find a doctor who will not judge you but who will treat you as a human being in need of medical attention.

7. I will bet a million dollars
that these displays in the congress re the Schiavo case, that are really unconstitutional, are paving the way toward eliminating abortion and toward subjugating women's bodies and indeed their lives and their health to the state.

I am convinced of it and I am fearful after seeing the behavior of the Democrats in the Schiavo case, with the pandering to DeLay by Harry Reid, a known pro-life person, and the willingness of Clinton, Kerry, Feinstein and others to go along with thisk to embrace the women haters in order to win for themelf, that women and their health and their rights will have no one defending their rights.

9. I couldn't agree with you more
The repukes have an agenda and the Schiavo case is directly tied into reproductive rights
