How about David Letterman to primary Lieberman in 2006?
I know Paul Newman's name has been floated as an opponent to Lieberman in 2006 but isn't he a little old? What about David Letterman, he lives in Connecticut doesn't he? He is under 60 and progressive (he backed Nader in 2000).

3. How about getting over your obsession with Lieberman?
Seriously, if the left wing spent as much energy targeting right-wing Republicans as do targeting moderate Democrats, we'd be calling Harry Reid majority leader.

4. Meryl Streep already. . .
is an activist in Connecticut. . .pretty sure she has residency there.

Check out this website re: her support of CT Farmland trust/Hartford Food System: http://www.merylstreeponline.net/MS1.html

I'd vote for her in a heartbeat over either Letterman or Liverlips!

Go Meryl! Senator Steep 2006! :kick:

7. All Dave has ever wanted to do was latenight. There is less than zero
chance that he'd even consider it. It's not like we don't have a bench in Connecticut, particularly post-whatever-his-name-was, the last R there who got kicked out for corruption

8. Letterman is uncomfortable being around people . . .
except when he's on stage . . . a distinct disadvantage in politics, where rubber chicken dinners and baby kissing are pretty much mandatory . . .

9. What about Ralph Nader?
I've heard his name thrown around there quite a bit. Although, I'm not exactly sure he'd do anything but split off the left from Lieberman. I think Nader would actually be able to make an impact if he won... though I'm not sure how likely that would be.

10. CT is not widly liberal
They went for Kerry, but there is alot of money up there. They have 5 Congressional Reps and three of them are Republicans. Since Nader would refuse to run as a Democrat, he wouldn't have that much support to work with. Nader's seat would be a loss in my mind. Nader should run for a House seat first.
